Accounting Manager

Location: Calgary, AB (100% On-Site)
Position Type: Full-Time

Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to lead the accounting function for their Calgary operations. Reporting directly to the Group Corporate Controller based in British Columbia, this role partners closely with the on-site General Manager while collaborating with remote finance team members.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and oversee all aspects of the full-cycle accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Own the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Oversee and support:
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Payroll
- Fixed Assets
- General Ledger
- Bank Reconciliations
- Provide hands-on support with daily accounting activities during the initial onboarding period and whenever operational needs require.
- Coordinate year-end audits and review engagements, ensuring all schedules and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.
- Partner with operational leadership to provide financial analysis, reporting, and business insights that support decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiencies, controls, and systems.
- Collaborate effectively with both on-site leadership and remote finance teams.

Qualifications

- CPA designation asset (or equivalent senior accounting experience).
- 5 years experience managing full-cycle accounting.
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, accounting processes, and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting external audits and review engagements.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards.




- Highly organized with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Experience

The ideal candidate will also bring experience in one or more of the following:

- Service-based industries (trucking or logistics experience)
- Process improvement and financial systems implementation
- Building accounting functions, controls, and SOPs from the ground up

Work Environment

- 100% on-site in Calgary
- Work closely with the General Manager and remote finance team
- Reports directly to the Group Corporate Controller (BC)
- Occasional overtime during month-end, year-end, audit periods, and other critical deadlines
- Approximately one day of travel per quarter to British Columbia

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
