We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to support the installation, troubleshooting, repair and ongoing service of industrial packaging equipment at customer facilities and at our Etobicoke location.

About the Prospect

This is a hands-on field service opportunity for an experienced electromechanical technician who enjoys solving equipment problems and working directly with customers. You will install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial packaging equipment at customer facilities, primarily within the Greater Toronto Area, and at our Etobicoke location. The role also includes training customer personnel, preparing equipment for demonstrations and delivery, and providing clear technical guidance and follow-up.

What You'll Do

- Install, test, set up and commission new, used and rental industrial packaging equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and electromechanical equipment issues and complete repairs, maintenance and adjustments.
- Repair, rebuild and overhaul used equipment for rental, demonstration or sale.
- Modify equipment electrically and mechanically to support applicable CSA and pre-start health and safety review requirements within your training and assigned responsibilities.
- Train customer personnel on the safe setup, operation and routine maintenance of equipment.
- Respond professionally to customer service requests and provide clear updates on diagnosis, required work and service status.
- Identify required replacement and spare parts and coordinate sourcing or collection when necessary.
- Prepare machines for testing, demonstrations and delivery and provide technical input for quotations and customer discussions.




- Complete service work orders, reports and supporting documentation accurately and promptly.
- Maintain technical knowledge through manuals, available training and collaboration with internal and supplier technicians.

What You Bring

- A college diploma or degree in electromechanical, electrical or mechanical technology, engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Three to five years of field service experience troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing electromechanical or industrial equipment.
- Hands-on ability to diagnose and service electrical and mechanical systems.
- A valid driver’s licence, reliable access to a personal vehicle and the ability to travel regularly to customer sites.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and safe work practices for industrial equipment and customer-site environments.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, planning and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience servicing industrial packaging equipment such as strapping machines, stretch wrappers, case sealers, case erectors and automatic conveyors.
- Familiarity with supply chain management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Forklift certification or operating experience.
- Aerial-lift training or experience.
- Experience using general shop machinery.
- Welding skills or training.

Working Conditions

- Work is performed at the Etobicoke office and shop and at customer facilities,



with regular travel primarily within the Greater Toronto Area.
- Regular use of a personal vehicle is required for travel to customer sites. Eligible business mileage is reimbursed in accordance with Gertex’s mileage-reimbursement policy.
- Occasional out-of-province travel may be required in the future but is not expected to be regular.
- The position requires lifting, bending, standing, manual work and working around operating industrial machinery.
- Work must be completed in accordance with applicable Gertex and customer-site safety requirements and required personal protective equipment.
- Gertex provides the tools and equipment required to perform the position’s assigned work.
