Overland Container Transportation Services (OCTS) was founded in 1989 with the goal of providing Alberta with safe and reliable container transportation services.

Today, OCTS provides a full range of intermodal services, including container drayage, repair, storage, warehousing, transloading, and terminal services throughout Western Canada.

We are currently looking for an experienced Top Lift Operator to join our Edmonton-area operation in Acheson, Alberta.

Position Overview

The Top Lift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, stacking, positioning, and handling of shipping containers within our terminal yard.

Previous hands-on top lift/container handler operating experience is required.

A formal top lift ticket or certificate is not required; however, applicants must have previous experience operating this type of equipment and be able to demonstrate that experience.

Forklift experience alone does not meet the experience requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

- Safely operate a top lift/container handler
- Move, stack, position, load, and unload shipping containers
- Maintain safe and efficient container stacking and yard organization
- Support the efficient movement of containers throughout the terminal
- Perform daily pre-use and routine equipment inspections
- Identify and report equipment deficiencies or maintenance concerns
- Inspect containers for visible damage or operational concerns
- Maintain awareness of surrounding vehicles, equipment, drivers, and employees while operating
- Follow all OCTS safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions




- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Assist with general yard and terminal duties when required
- Work collaboratively with Drivers, Operators, Coordinators, and Supervisors
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications - Required

- Previous hands-on experience operating a top lift/container handler
- Experience safely moving and stacking shipping containers
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Reliable personal transportation to and from the Acheson facility
- Ability to work Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Solid commitment to workplace safety
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced yard environment

Assets

- Previous experience in a container depot, intermodal terminal, transportation yard, logistics facility, or similar environment
- Forklift or other heavy-equipment operating experience
- Top lift, forklift, or heavy-equipment certification
- Mechanical aptitude

Transportation Requirement

Our facility is located in Acheson, Alberta, and is not accessible by public transit.

Applicants must have reliable personal transportation to and from work.

Compensation

$24.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience.

Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
