CREDIT ASSISTANT

POSITION SUMMARY
Nortrux Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Credit Assistant to join our Administration Department in Edmonton. The Credit Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining our positive cash flow, managing customer accounts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Position Purpose: As a Credit Assistant at Nortrux Inc., you will:
· Operate within the rules, policies, and procedures outlined in the Nortrux Quality and Human Resources/Safety manuals.
· Collaborate with Nortrux customers, employees, and upper management to maintain positive cash flow.
· Utilize your creativity, skills, experience, and training to locate customers, overcome objections to payment, negotiate payment arrangements, and accurately record information in the CDK system.
· Follow up on left messages and broken arrangements to establish new payment agreements and document them in CDK.
· Identify problem accounts and escalate them to the Credit Manager for resolution.
Major Responsibilities & Duties:
· Understanding and adhering to all applicable Quality and Human Resources Policies and Procedures.
· Providing timely credit approvals (overrides) for parts and services departments at all branches.
· Actively following up on past-due accounts, recording customer contact, and managing payment commitments.
· Diarizing payment commitments and ensuring follow-up when commitments are not met.
· Escalating problem customer accounts to the Credit Manager for resolution.
· Attending internal credit meetings and industry credit group meetings.
· Monitoring and addressing outstanding items on MV Preferred customer accounts.
· Clearing Nortrux promotion accounts at month-end.
· Filing Garage Keepers' Liens in the absence of the Credit Manager.
· Setting up various accounts in the CDK system.
· Monitoring MV Preferred customer accounts and taking action to transparent invoices.
· Processing customer credit card payments and maintaining backups.
· Preparing finance charge write-offs twice monthly.
· Creating customer files and updating them with necessary documentation
· Meeting with the credit manager weekly to go over accounts
· Monitoring MVP disputes and distributing them to the associated branches
· Preparing month-end journal vouchers to clear internal sales and promotion accounts.
· Setting up customers in CDK Portal or preparing physical statements.
· Ensuring customers receive weekly updates on outstanding balances and providing invoices when necessary.
· Managing payments on liened invoices and discharging liens when paid.
· Handling returns and write-offs for customer credits.
· Preparing customer handwrites as necessary.
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
· 2-5 years of credit and collection experience, preferably within a dealership setting (asset but not required).
· Credit and collection training.
· A commitment to ongoing training and skill enhancement through courses or seminars.
· Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain customer goodwill.
· A friendly nature combined with assertiveness in negotiations.
· The ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
· Computer and keyboarding skills, including experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, and CDK.
