Architectural Technologist – Industrial Interior Alteration Permit

Compensation: $35–$45 per hour, depending on experience

ArchEye Architects Inc. is seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to assist with the preparation of architectural permit drawings for an industrial interior alteration project.

The successful candidate should have experience with Ontario Building Code requirements and be comfortable preparing coordinated, permit-ready architectural drawing packages under the direction of Principal Architect.

Responsibilities :

- Review existing architectural and base-building drawings.
- Prepare existing, demolition, and proposed floor plans.
- Prepare partition plans, wall types, door information, sections, and architectural details.
- Assist with preparation of the Building Code Matrix.
- Prepare life-safety and egress plans.
- Review occupant loads, travel distances, exits, and door swings.
- Identify and document required fire separations and fire-resistance ratings.
- Prepare fire-rated assembly details where required.
- Review barrier-free requirements applicable to the project.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with information provided by consultants.
- Assist with permit revisions and responses to architectural review comments.
- Prepare clean, accurate, permit-ready architectural drawings.

Qualifications :

- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architectural Science,



or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant architectural production experience preferred.
- Good working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, particularly Part 3.
- Experience preparing Building Permit drawings.
- Familiarity with life-safety, exiting, fire separations, and rated assemblies.
- Strong AutoCAD and/or Revit skills.
- Ability to read and coordinate architectural and engineering drawings.
- Solid attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Experience :

- Industrial, commercial, or institutional projects.
- Existing-building renovations and interior alterations.
- Building Code Matrix preparation.
- Part 3 Building Permit documentation.
- GTA municipal permit submissions.

Contract Structure : This is a project-based, part-time contract position expected to run approximately 6–8 weeks.

The anticipated workload is approximately 60–100 hours, depending on experience and project requirements.

The position will be mix of in office and hybrid, with work coordinated through ArchEye Architects Inc. in Markham.

There may be opportunities for additional project work following completion of this assignment.

Compensation

$35–$45 per hour, commensurate with experience.
