General Overview

Cornerstone Christian Community Church is a non-profit, Christian organization. The Church operates a community centre-style facility that is open 7 days per week and serves the community whether through church on Sundays or other events and programs throughout the week. Reporting to the Children’s Ministry Director (CMD), the Associate Children’s Ministry Director (ACMD) helps, plan, deliver, and evaluate StarKids programs (15 months to Grade 5). Along with the CMD, you will build and shepherd volunteer teams, partner with parents, and create engaging, safe environments that point children to Jesus.

Primary Responsibilities

Sunday & Mid-week ministry

- Co-plan and execute Starkids Sundays; step into classroom roles (including teaching) when needed.
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with volunteers and parents, fostering positive relationships while engaging meaningfully with children.
- Support delivery of mid-week programming (e.g. LEAP) and special events as needed.
- Ensure environments are welcoming, age-appropriate, safe, and aligned with Cornerstone’s mission and vision for children and families.

Volunteer recruiting, onboarding & leadership development
- Help to continue building and refining a leadership pipeline with clear role profiles (Director, ACMD, Coaches/Team Leads, Leaders, Participants).
- Work with the CMD to recruit, screen, and onboard new volunteers, schedule teams, provide ongoing training and encouragement.
- Model healthy team culture and give regular, growth-oriented feedback.

Administration & Compliance
- Manage schedules, room bookings, curriculum materials, and supplies
- Maintain accurate records (attendance, incidents, medical/allergy notes) and uphold health, safety, and security protocols.
- Assist in refining and maintenance of the Children’s Ministry Handbook, ensuring policies, volunteer procedures, and role descriptions are clear, current, and aligned with Cornerstone’s wider staff handbook.

Other




- Parent & volunteer communication - Communicate clearly with parents, volunteers, and staff including emails, announcements, parent newsletter, web updates, etc.
- Camp and seasonal initiatives - collaborate with the Camp Director to align supplies, materials, and programming logistics, ensuring resource efficiency, consistency, and good stewardship across ministries.
- Occasional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the Children’s Ministry Director or the Executive Team

Education & Experience

- Post-secondary education in a related field (children/family, education, ministry) preferred.
- Experience working with children in a ministry or educational setting, preferably within a church context
- Experience coordinating teams or leading volunteers is an asset.

Skills
- Problem solving mindset - calm under pressure, proactive follow-through

- Ability to work independently
- Tech-capable - Google workspace (Docs, sheets, slides); willing to learn church tools (CCB, Asana, etc.).
- Knowledge of child safety and security protocols; discretion with confidential information

Other Details

- Has or willing to acquire CPR-C first aid certification
- Must complete Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Ability to work Sundays and some evenings/weekdays
- Part time contract (20 hours per week)
- Target Start Date – ASAP
