Automation and Control Systems - Engineering Specialist

- Location: Saint John, NB - (Onsite)
- Contract Length: 6 Months

Responsibilities

- Develop and implement new control schemes and safeguarding logic
- Design and implement new control system architectures and networks
- Develop Enterprise Model and System Asset hierarchies for automation networks and systems
- Develop or modify control system logic and configuration for various automation systems
- Develop, modify and maintain smart motor control systems (EIP, MB TCP, GOOSE)
- Execute patching and upgrade activities in the control environment to support system stability, security and lifecycle management requirements
- Design, implement and maintain high availability industrial Ethernet systems
- Design and implement advanced alarm management strategies (mode based & dynamic suppression)
- Modify or design ASM compliant operator HMI graphics
- Review and investigate Cyber Security concerns and Network performance alerts
- Monitor and maintain data center and network systems and hardware
- Monitor and optimize automation systems
- Troubleshoot operational issues
- Lead commissioning, testing, validation and verification activities
- Manage various automation system contractors (when applicable)
- Execute preventive maintenance routines and activities
- Document new technical procedures or update existing (as required)
- Provide guidance to support engineering teams developing work packages
- Provide support to HAZOP & LOPA activities




- Use workflow management packages such as Service Now and Cintellate for change management
- Participate in on-call support rotation

Your Education

- Degree or diploma in Electrical/Electronics, Industrial Control or similar
- NBSCETT or APEGNB certification is an asset
- Red Seal in Electrical or Instrumentation is an asset
- Cisco networking certification
- ICS2 or SANS Cybersecurity certification
- Honeywell TPS/TDC Engineer
- Honeywell HBM Blending and Movement administration
- Current Honeywell Certified Associate in:
- Experion PKS Server Engineering (EXP-02 R530)
- Experion PKS Server Administration (EXP-23 R530)
- Experion PKS Virtualization (EXP-48G3)
- Safety Manager Implementation (SM-4451)

Your Experience

- 15+ years of OT experience including 5 years in an industrial environment (refining preferred)
- Experience with OT systems such as Honeywell Experion (R511/R530), Honeywell TPS (R690+), Honeywell Safety Manager (R162+), Rockwell PLCs (Studio 5000) & Machinery Monitoring Systems
- Experience with Honeywell HMI Web
- Rockwell Factory Talk View Studio
- Experience with automation/computer hardware troubleshooting, repair and replacement
- Experience configuring and supporting OT networking and firewalls




- Experience with cybersecurity best practices in OT environments
- Experience with the following OT systems is an asset:
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Windows client/server architecture
- Cisco networking (switching and routing)
- Cyber Security Systems
- VMware
- Bently Nevada systems (3500 and Orbit)
- Emerson AMS
- Compressor Controls Corporation (CCC) – Prodigy and 3++
- Prognost
