We're a growing underground utility construction company specializing in horizontal directional drilling (HDD), fibre optic installation, and underground infrastructure. We're hiring an experienced Backhoe Operator who wants steady.

Want to expand your skills? We train from within and support operators in moving into HDD drilling, locating, and other specialized equipment roles.

What You'll Do

- Safely operate a backhoe and other excavation equipment for utility installation and site prep
- Dig trenches and pits accurately to plan without damaging existing infrastructure
- Read and follow utility locates, permits, drawings, and work orders
- Work closely with Locators, Drillers, and the rest of the crew
- Complete pre- and post-operation inspections and report mechanical or safety issues
- Keep accurate logs, inspection forms, and daily reports
- Backfill and restore sites properly after excavation
- Follow and support our safety program
- Pitch in on other tasks as the job requires

What You Need

- 2+ years operating backhoes or excavation equipment in construction or utilities
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence (required)




- Solid knowledge of ground disturbance procedures and safe digging practices
- Ability to read locates, construction drawings, and work orders
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather
- Robust work ethic and a team-first attitude
- Good communication skills

Nice to Have

- Experience with HDD or fibre optic installation projects
- CSTS 2020, First Aid, Ground Disturbance, or WHMIS 2015 tickets (we'll provide any required safety training before you start)
- Interest in cross-training on other heavy equipment

Pay: $27.00-$36.00 per hour
