Carpenter – Formwork / Commercial / Civil

Fort St. John, BC | $35–$40/hour | Full-Time, Year-Round The Role

We’re hiring an experienced Carpenter strong in rough carpentry, framing, and formwork who can read drawings, work at a good pace, and adapt as projects change. You may move between carpentry, concrete, and civil work depending on the project, giving you exposure to a broader range of construction.

Our client is a family-owned general contractor based in Fort St. John, serving Northern BC since 1999 across commercial, industrial, concrete, civil, and infrastructure construction.

They have a long-term core team, year-round workload, and are looking for someone who wants to build a lasting career.

Responsibilities & Expectations

- Carpentry & Formwork: Perform rough carpentry, framing, and formwork; read and interpret construction drawings to complete assigned work accurately.

- Versatility: Move between carpentry, concrete, and civil work as projects and priorities change.

- Work Ethic & Reliability: Work safely, maintain a strong pace, follow Superintendent direction, and contribute wherever needed to keep the project moving.

Requirements

MANDATORY

- Carpentry Experience: Journeyman Carpenter, or highly experienced non-ticketed Carpenter.

- Drawing Interpretation: Able to read construction drawings independently.

- Driver’s Licence / Transportation:



Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation to the yard or local jobsite.

- Location: Able to work in Fort St. John and surrounding areas without regular living-out allowance or relocation support.

- Work Authorization: Legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.

- Drug & Alcohol: Able to pass drug and alcohol testing when required by the project or site.

PREFERRED

- Relevant Project Experience: Commercial, industrial, concrete, or heavy civil construction experience.

- Safety Training: First Aid, WHMIS, CSTS/CSO, or other relevant construction safety training.

Compensation, Schedule & Benefits

- Compensation: $35–$40/hour

, based on experience and capability.

- Overtime: Overtime after 8 hours.

- Schedule: Typically 7:00 AM–5:00/6:00 PM in summer, with Saturdays commonly required, and 7:00 AM–4:00/5:00 PM in winter, generally Monday–Friday.

- Perks: Full benefits after 3 months, including dental, extended health, vision, disability insurance, employee assistance program, RRSP match, and wellness program. Employer pays 60% of the benefit cost.

- Travel: Most projects are local. For qualifying out-of-town work, transportation, accommodation, and applicable living-out allowance are provided.
