As a Vice President Commercial Banker within the Innovation Economy Technology Banking team based in Toronto, you will grow and retain profitable relationships within the Commercial and Specialized Industries group, specializing in Technology. You will serve as a focal point for client acquisition and ongoing coverage of innovative companies, working independently and with internal partners to deliver the full capabilities of the firm to clients.

Job Responsibilities

Client Acquisition & Market Development

- You will build a strong Technology Banking brand in Toronto, positioning the business as a leading Innovation Economy bank serving high-quality and diverse clients.
- You will develop new business by acquiring new relationships and deepening existing relationships through delivery of firmwide solutions, including credit and payments.
- You will seek out founders and companies powering innovation by leveraging referral networks built through business activity and relationship development.

Client Coverage & Strategic Advisory

- You will lead internal strategic discussions across the firm’s solutions to address client needs and support profitable relationship growth.
- You will provide financial advice to clients while building long-term, trusted relationships with technology companies.
- You will stay current on industry trends across the start-up ecosystem, entrepreneurship, and innovation to identify opportunities for strategic partnerships.

Risk, Culture & Execution

- You will champion a culture of innovation and a customer-centric mindset while managing credit, operational, and reputational risk appropriately.
- You will work independently and as part of a energetic team to deliver the entire firm to clients.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills.

- 5+ years of related experience.
- Robust understanding of Commercial Banking products and services.
- Understanding and interest in high-growth software, payments, ecommerce, and marketplaces.
- Excellent sales management and business development skills.




- Proficiency in building and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnerships with senior business and control partners.
- Self-directed, proactive, and creative, with sound judgment and the ability to navigate ambiguity to get things done.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills.

- Bachelor’s degree.
- Formal credit training.
- Strong committed team player, looking to contribute to a national team of like-minded Innovation Economy bankers.
