Role Overview:

The Construction Project Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of HVAC construction projects from award through completion. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing project schedules, budgets, equipment procurement and delivery, technical submittals, commissioning activities, project financials, and customer relationships to ensure smooth project execution, on-time delivery, and exceptional customer satisfaction. The role also contributes to maintaining solid relationships with contractors, improving project processes, and enhancing the company's reputation and success in the industry.

Strong coordination skills, attention to detail, the ability to apply technical knowledge, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities are essential. This position is considered a green job, contributing to positive environmental outcomes through the implementation of high-efficiency HVAC systems that support Canada's net-zero objectives.

Reports to the Director of PMO.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide equipment selections based on performance requirements.
- Review and verify that equipment selections meet project design intent.
- Create technical submittal packages for HVAC equipment based on project performance requirements.
- Manage the release and delivery coordination of HVAC equipment in agreeance with construction schedule.
- Manage complex multi-equipment startups, including the technician scheduling, planning and leading of commissioning meetings, and capturing all documentation of the startup process.
- Manage warranty of HVAC equipment, including warranty repairs, warranty reimbursements, and warranty documentation.




- Visit project sites and meet with customers on site and in their office to review equipment layouts and equipment issues.
- Manage the finances of the project. This includes reviewing purchase orders, capturing change orders, reviewing and approving invoices, and managing AR.
- Preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes, and additions.
- Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate HVAC construction projects from initiation through completion.
- Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Monitor project progress and coordinate activities among contractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
- Review project drawings, specifications, schematics, and contract documents.
- Develop and implement project risk management and mitigation strategies.
- Prepare project reports, forecasts, and status updates for management and clients.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Supervision of 1-2 employees.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, with demonstrated specialization in commercial HVAC systems.

Experience:

- 3-5 years of work experience in the commercial HVAC industry with specific experience in hydronic system design related to air source heatpumps, domestic hot water heatpumps, and custom air handling unit design.
- 2 years of project management experience in the construction industry, including:
- active portfolio management of 50+ projects simultaneously, including multimillion dollar projects.
- demonstrated competence using selection software for selecting air-to-water heatpumps, water-to-water heatpumps, custom air handling units, VRV, and terminal air systems including Daikin Tools, Daikin City, Magellano, WeDoGeo, S4, NimbusCool, QSS, Cores.
- production of HVAC equipment submittal packages.




- release of HVAC equipment based on construction schedules and coordinating site deliveries.
- leading equipment commissioning meetings and coordinating startup of HVAC equipment.
- managing warranty timelines and site issues.

Proficiency with:

- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central - 3 Years of using Business Central experience
- Bluebeam

- Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites, engineering offices, and construction projects throughout British Columbia.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to visit engineering offices, mechanical contractors, and job sites in the lower mainland and Interior of BC (remote locations included).
- Must own Hard hat, steel-toed safety boots, and cellular phone.
