Summary of Position

The Costing Specialist is responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining accurate product costings for imported apparel. This role partners closely with sourcing, logistics, merchandising, and overseas vendors to ensure competitive pricing, margin targets, and cost transparency.

Responsibilities

Product Costing &

- Analysis

- Prepare detailed cost sheets for apparel styles, including fabric, trims, labor, overhead, freight, duty, and landed cost

- Analyze vendor quotations and negotiate cost components to achieve margin targets

- Track and validate cost changes related to materials, labor, currency, freight, and tariffs

- Maintain historical costing data and benchmarks by category and vendor

Vendor &

- Sourcing Support





- Communicate directly with overseas factories and agents to request and clarify cost breakdowns

- Support vendor negotiations and cost engineering initiatives

- Review minimum order quantities (MOQs), lead times, and production efficiencies

Margin &

- Pricing Support

- Collaborate with merchandising and sales teams to ensure target margins are met

- Assist in setting wholesale prices based on cost, markup, and market considerations

- Provide scenario analysis for cost fluctuations and pricing strategies

Logistics &

- Compliance

- Incorporate freight, duty, tariffs, and brokerage costs into landed cost calculations

- Partner with logistics teams to validate shipping methods and cost assumptions

- Ensure costing aligns with compliance, labeling, and import requirements

Reporting &

- Process Improvement

- Prepare regular costing and margin reports for management

- Identify cost-saving opportunities across sourcing, production, and logistics

- Support system updates and costing process improvements (PLM, ERP, Excel models)
