Pay: CA$62.00 - CA$69.00 per hour

Location and schedule: Wintermute Periodontics at Metrotown, Burnaby, BC; (1-2 days per week: Wednesdays plus an additional day; room to grow)

About the Role

This is not your typical dental hygiene position. We are looking for a skilled and motivated dental hygienist to work closely with a periodontist in an advanced clinical role. Instead of traditional scaling and prophy, you will play a key role in consultations, treatment planning, case documentation, and administering local anesthesia for surgeries. You will also spend part of your day working independently providing GBT, root planing, and oral hygiene instruction.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct initial patient consultations, including medical history review, clinical exams and periodontal assessments.
- Educate patients on periodontal disease, mucogingival defects, treatment options, implant therapy, and post-operative care.
- Assist in treatment planning and maintain detailed case documentation.
- Administer local anesthesia and provide clinical support for surgical procedures.
- Collaborate closely with the periodontist to optimize patient care.
- Provide hands-on periodontal care: Initial therapy and supportive periodontal therapy; Guided biofilm therapy and root planing

What We’re Looking For




- Registered Dental Hygienist with a strong interest in periodontics.
- Minimum of 2 years dental hygiene experience in private practice; experience in a periodontal or other specialist practice is a huge asset.
- New graduates will not be considered.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and patient education skills.
- Strong clinical, organizational, and case management skills.
- Proficiency in administration of local anesthetic. Certification in LA is a must.
- Excellent piezo and hand instrumentation skills.
- A team player who thrives in a collaborative setting.
- Open to learning and professional growth in an advanced clinical role.

Position Details
