Hotel Director of Sales –

Position: Director of Sales

Department: Sales & Marketing

Reports To: General Manager / Ownership

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary The Director of Sales is responsible for leading the hotel’s sales and business development efforts to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, room revenue, meeting and event revenue, and overall profitability. The position develops new business, maintains relationships with existing clients, manages sales activities, and represents the hotel professionally within the local market.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

- Develop and implement an annual sales plan in coordination with the General Manager and hotel leadership.
- Identify and pursue new corporate, group, government, sports, wedding, leisure, and other market segments.
- Conduct regular sales calls, client visits, prospecting, networking, and business development activities.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with corporate accounts, travel agencies, tour operators, meeting planners, and local businesses.
- Generate leads and convert prospects into confirmed room nights, meetings, events, and other revenue opportunities.
- Conduct property tours and professionally present hotel facilities, guestrooms, meeting space, restaurant, and other services.
- Maintain regular contact with key accounts and ensure their business needs are understood and addressed.
- Develop and maintain an accurate account database and sales pipeline.
- Monitor account production and identify opportunities to increase room nights and revenue.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with past, current, and prospective clients.




- Handle client concerns professionally and work with hotel departments to resolve issues.

Revenue & Sales Strategy

- Work closely with the General Manager and Revenue Management team to maximize occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, local events, and business trends.
- Provide recommendations regarding rates, promotions, packages, and market opportunities.
- Review pace reports, production reports, and other sales-related reports and take appropriate action.

Group & Meeting Sales

- Solicit and manage group, corporate, sports, wedding, and meeting business.
- Respond promptly to RFPs, inquiries, and requests for proposals.
- Negotiate contracts and rates within approved hotel guidelines.
- Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure successful group stays and events.
- Follow up after events and group stays to obtain repeat business and referrals.

Sales Activity & Performance

- Complete a minimum of twice-weekly outbound sales calls/visits, or as established by hotel management.
- Maintain weekly sales activity reports and provide regular updates to the General Manager.
- Establish measurable sales targets and actively work toward achieving them.
- Attend local networking events, trade shows, community functions,



and industry meetings.
- Maintain a strong presence in the local business community..

Qualifications

- Minimum 3–5 years of hotel sales experience, preferably in a full-service or branded hotel.
- Previous experience in a Director of Sales, Sales Manager, or similar leadership position preferred.
- Solid knowledge of corporate, group, leisure, and local market sales.
- Experience with hotel PMS, CRM, sales systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet sales targets.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for external sales calls and client visits.

Working Conditions

- Full-time position with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required for client events, hotel functions, trade shows, or business development activities.
- Regular travel within the local and surrounding markets for sales calls and networking.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and represent the hotel positively at all times.

Pay: $62,011.13-$149,034.05 per year
