Intercontinental Truck Body builds custom truck bodies — every unit engineered and fabricated to a customer's spec, not pulled off a shelf. That means our fabrication floor runs on skilled fabricators, accurate drawings, and tight coordination between departments. No two weeks look the same.

The Role

You'll lead the fabrication department: roughly 10 fabricators, primarily working with aluminum. You own what comes off the floor — on time, to drawing, and to ITB standards — while building the habits and the people that make that repeatable.

This is a shop-floor job. You'll spend your day where the work is, not behind a desk.

Responsibilities

- Supervise fabrication activities including assembly, welding, and mechanical work to meet production schedules.
- Coordinate with purchasing department and warehouse supply to ensure timely availability of materials and components.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflows and reduce waste across the fabrication process.
- Monitor quality control procedures to guarantee that all products meet safety standards and customer specifications.
- Lead process improvement initiatives by analyzing workflows and introducing best practices for efficiency.
- Manage team performance through coaching, training, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports related to manufacturing operations.

Schedule and resources

- Build and maintain the fabrication schedule together with the Production Coordinator, adjusting daily to protect deadlines
- Allocate labour, equipment, and material against production priorities
- Forecast material, consumable, and tooling needs, and communicate with Purchasing early enough to avoid shortages

Safety, Lean, and 5S

- Hold the line on safety: organized work areas, enforced policies, unsafe conditions corrected on the spot
- Build daily 5S habits — tool accountability, material control, routine housekeeping audits
- Apply Lean practices on the floor: visual management,



standardized work, and root-cause problem solving that actually removes waste
- Track productivity, downtime, and rework, and use that data to clear bottlenecks and improve flow

Across the Shop

- Work closely with Production Coordination, Design, Purchasing, and Management to keep projects moving.

Required

- 5+ years supervising welding or fabrication teams
- Strong working knowledge of welding procedures, fabrication methods, technical drawings, and quality control
- Proven experience scheduling shop-floor work across multiple concurrent projects
- Hands-on experience running Lean and 5S programs in a production environment
- Leadership that organizes a team and holds it accountable without burning it out
- Comfort with material planning, inventory tracking, and procurement coordination
- Solid Excel skills; experience with MS Project or similar scheduling tools

Nice to have

- Eligible to hold CWB Welding Supervisor designation (or already holds it)
- Background in custom, low-volume, or build-to-order manufacturing
- Experience with aluminum as well as steel fabrication

Most importantly, you fix problems at the source and build the daily habits that make delivery times, shop organization, and productivity improve on their own.

Pay: $39.00-$44.00 per hour

Expected hours: 42.5 per week
