Our Current Opportunity

We are currently looking for an Ontario Certified Teacher to support a Grade 8 student through one-on-one, in-home teaching in Ottawa.

He is a bright, thoughtful student with autism and ADHD who attends a regular Grade 8 classroom and follows the Ontario curriculum with accommodations through his IEP. He is academically capable, but anxiety, perfectionism, and low confidence can sometimes make it difficult for him to recognize what he is truly capable of.

He

- Loves animals, his dog, NFL football, and reading.
- Enjoys both fiction and nonfiction and loves talking about his interests.
- Is bright and capable, but can be very hard on himself.
- Can become discouraged when he encounters something difficult or worries about getting the wrong answer.
- Would benefit from support building confidence, self-advocacy, organization, and independence.

His family is looking for an educator who will become another trusted part of his journey. Together, you will focus on strengthening English and academic skills, including areas such as essay writing and test preparation, while also working on executive functioning, organization, self-advocacy,



and confidence. We believe the best outcomes happen when teachers aren’t doing it alone.

We are looking for someone who:

- Is an Ontario Certified Teacher, with experience supporting students with learning differences.
- Is available to provide one in-person session per week on Sundays.
- Believes relationships come before results.
- Understands that every child learns differently.
- Leads with patience, empathy, encouragement, and high expectations.
- Understands how anxiety, perfectionism, and fear of being wrong can affect a student's confidence and approach to learning.
- Can support executive functioning skills such as organization, planning, time management, and working through challenging tasks.
- Knows how to build confidence while helping a student become a more independent learner.
- Became a teacher because you wanted to make a meaningful difference in someone's life.

What you will be doing You will work one-on-one with this student to create engaging, individualized learning experiences that support his personal and academic goals. Your sessions may include:

- Strengthening writing skills,



including essay writing and written assignments.
- Supporting test preparation and effective study strategies.
- Breaking larger assignments and academic tasks into manageable steps.
- Developing organization, planning, and time-management skills.
- Helping him build confidence in asking questions, making mistakes, and working through challenges.
- Encouraging greater self-advocacy and independence.
- Building a trusting, positive relationship that helps him recognize his strengths and feel confident and successful.

Position Details

- Location: In Person, Ottawa, ON (K2K 3K8)
- Schedule: One session per week on Sundays. Sunday availability is required.
- Position Type: Part-time, In-Person
- Compensation: $80 to $100 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.

Many of our teachers support multiple students. Additional hours may become available based on your availability and ongoing family demand.
