What you will do The Health &

- Safety Advisor is responsible for providing operational health and safety advisory support across Det’on Cho Management LP and its operating entities. Reporting to the Manager, Health &
- Safety, the role partners with operational leaders, supervisors, employees, contractors, and clients to promote safe work practices, support regulatory compliance, identify and mitigate workplace hazards, and contribute to continuous improvement of the Company’s Health and Safety Management System. The Health &
- Safety Advisor acts as a subject matter resource by providing coaching, conducting field-based safety activities, monitoring compliance, and supporting incident prevention and corrective action initiatives. The Health &
- Safety Advisor works within this context to support safe operations, promote health and safety awareness, strengthen compliance practices, and contribute to a positive safety culture across the organization.

A Day in the Life The Health & Safety Advisor shall be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

- Support implementation and continuous improvement of the Company’s Health and Safety Management System across operating entities.
- Provide operational guidance and recommendations to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding health and safety requirements and safe work practices.
- Conduct workplace inspections, site assessments, and field visits to identify hazards and verify corrective actions are completed.
- Lead or support incident, injury, near miss, and hazard investigations, including root cause analysis and recommendations for corrective action.
- Support development and review of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Task Hazard Analysis (THA), and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA).




- Monitor operational compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, company policies, client requirements, and industry standards.
- Coordinate and deliver health and safety orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and awareness initiatives.
- Coach supervisors and employees to strengthen hazard recognition, reporting, and proactive safety behaviours.
- Track and maintain safety records, training documentation, corrective action logs, inspection records, and compliance reports.
- Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response readiness activities.
- Assist with internal audits, COR requirements, and safety program evaluations.
- Provide support during client audits, regulatory inspections, and operational safety reviews.
- Monitor safety trends, analyze data and KPIs, and prepare reports with recommendations for management review.
- Liaise with operational teams, contractors, and external stakeholders regarding routine health and safety matters.
- Promote a positive and proactive safety culture through education, communication, and visible field presence.
- Travel to operational and remote worksites as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Effort The candidate may be required to:

- Work additional hours outside of the regular hours of work, including weekends and overtime
- Travel within the Northwest Territories and Canada on occasion
- Work in field, operational, and office environments with changing priorities
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Participate in inspections, audits, investigations, and field-based safety activities

What You Bring In order for an individual to be successful in the role of Health and Safety Advisor, they need to meet the following education and/or experience:

- Diploma, certificate, or post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive health and safety experience, preferably in industrial, construction, mining, logistics, or multi-site operational environments
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices
- Experience conducting inspections, incident investigations, hazard assessments, audits,



and corrective action management
- Experience facilitating safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
- Working knowledge of WSCC processes and reporting requirements is considered an asset
- Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while influencing safe work practices across operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and health and safety management systems
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED certification required
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required
- NCSO, CRST, CRSP designation, or working toward certification considered an asset
- Experience supporting COR certification and audit requirements considered an asset
- Familiarity with Yellowknives Dene culture, communities, and ways of life considered an asset

NOTICE: Det’on Cho Management LP functions five (5) days a week, seven and a half (7.5) hours a day. All employees must realize this fact and be aware that, at times, it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift as business demands. In addition, I understand that business determines the number of hours I work and that some weeks, I may be scheduled to work more than thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hours per week.
