Health Care Aide (HCA) / Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Dementia Respite – Red Deer

Pay: $19.00–$22.00 per hour

About the Position

Spectrum Home & Family Care is hiring a compassionate and dependable Health Care Aide (HCA) or Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide 12 hours per week of in-home dementia respite support for a client in Red Deer.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide safe, consistent support and companionship to the client while giving their family/caregiver scheduled respite. We are looking for someone who is patient, calm, reliable, and comfortable supporting an individual living with dementia.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide dementia-focused respite and companionship
- Support the client with daily routines and activities
- Provide personal care assistance as required
- Encourage independence while maintaining client safety
- Provide conversation, engagement, and meaningful activities
- Prepare simple meals and snacks as required
- Complete light housekeeping, dishes, laundry, and general tidying related to the client
- Support safe mobility and transfers as required
- Monitor the client’s well-being and report changes or concerns
- Complete mandatory progress notes after each shift
- Follow the client’s care plan and Spectrum policies




- Communicate professionally with the client’s family and Spectrum management

Requirements
- Experience supporting individuals living with dementia or memory loss is strongly preferred
- Registered Health Care Aide (HCA) in Alberta is preferred, but not required
- Comfortable providing personal care
- Transparent Criminal Record Check
- First Aid & CPR (can be obtained upon hire)
- WHMIS 2018
- Valid Alberta driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Reliable, patient, compassionate, and able to work independently
- Must follow all confidentiality, safety, professional conduct, and client-specific requirements

Additional casual or relief hours may become available based on client needs and caregiver availability.
