Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Hospitality Team Lead & Event Coordinator to elevate our guest experience and orchestrate memorable events. In this dynamic dual role, you will lead a dedicated hospitality team, ensuring exceptional guest services across our venue. You will coordinate and execute a variety of events, from small gatherings to large functions, all while maintaining high standards of quality, organization, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
1. Floor Leadership & Shift Execution
- Lead pre-shift lineup meetings to communicate service goals, daily specials, VIP arrivals, and station assignments.
2. Event Planning, Administration & Execution
- Partner with the Event Manager to field inquiries, conduct venue tours, draft proposals, and maintain Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Coordinate logistics, timelines, and layouts with external vendors (caterers, florists, DJs, rental suppliers).
- Oversee on-site event setup, execution, and teardown, serving as the main liaison for event hosts, guests, and suppliers.
- Collaborate with the bar team to prepare signature craft cocktail menus, spirit tastings, and beverage inventory for private functions.
3. Staff Mentorship & Operational Support
- Assist the General Manager in onboarding, shadowing, and training new FOH employees across server, host, and support roles.
- Provide continuous coaching and constructive feedback to maintain high service standards across a 40-person department.
- Oversee shift handovers and verify completion of opening, mid-shift, closing, and event side-work checklists.
4. Compliance, Health & Safety
- Enforce strict compliance with local health regulations and responsible alcohol service guidelines (Smart Serve).
- Ensure all event layouts, dining spaces,
and guest pathways strictly adhere to Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards.
- Support Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) workplace standards to maintain a safe, hazard-free setting for staff and guests.
- Complete shift-end POS reconciliations, cash drops, and floor inventory audits (glassware, linens, menus, service supplies).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1–3 years in restaurant/bar floor supervision, event coordination, or hospitality management (experience at a distillery, winery, or venue is an asset).
- Certifications: Valid Smart Serve certification required upon hire. An Event Planning/Management Diploma or professional certification (CTM, CMP, CSEP, CWP) is preferred.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading, directing, and coaching mid-to-large teams (20+ staff).
- Skills: Strong organizational skills, clear written/verbal communication, quick problem-solving, and proficiency with POS and event management software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended shifts (8+ hours) and lift up to 35 lbs for event setup and teardown.
- Maintain a strong supervisory presence on the floor during lunch and dinner services, optimizing table turns, seating flow, and pacing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for guest inquiries and real-time floor service recovery.
- Bridge real-time communication between the FOH team and culinary staff to ensure line pacing and order accuracy.
Requirements
- Proven experience in hospitality, event coordination, or restaurant/hotel environments
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team and foster a positive work environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills for multitasking and detailed planning
- Knowledge of marketing techniques and guest service best practices
- Ability to negotiate with vendors and clients to secure favorable terms
- Experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial management in a hospitality setting
- Familiarity with upselling techniques to increase revenue streams
- Prior experience in restaurant or hotel operations is highly desirable
- Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently

Pay: $19.00 per hour
