Position Description:

The Housing Support Worker reports directly to the Executive Director or Designate and is responsible for the implementation of the Outreach and Tenant Placement Program for our 41 rent-geared-to-income, supportive housing units for women. This includes the maintenance of the waiting list and applicant files; the filling of vacancies; the initial assessment and evaluation for continuing eligibility; the provision of direct support services and resource referrals to tenants; overseeing tenant arrears and following Landlord & Tenant Board processes when required; and community education and committee work.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a non-profit organization, including strong comprehension of daily functioning and operations of non-profit structures (preference for those in women-specific organizations);

Experience in social housing;





Solid solution-focused conflict resolution and problem solving skills;

A thorough understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act and Landlord & Tenant Board procedures;

Strong computer skills; Office administration and financial management considered assets; and

Experience working in deadline-driven setting, proven project management skills; strong oral and written communication skills;

Possess a valid Driver’s License;

Vulnerable sector CPIC required
