HSE Advisor – Baie Verte

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Advisor to join our team for a project in Baie Verte.

This is a rotational position working 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, with camp accommodations provided.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide consistent, full-time HSE leadership and support to project personnel on site.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with company policies, project requirements, and Newfoundland and Labrador occupational health and safety legislation.
- Support project teams in completing risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), and other safety planning activities.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, complete root cause analyses, and oversee the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, site-specific orientations, and other required safety training.
- Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on hazard recognition, PPE requirements, safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation and records, including inspections, audits, incidents, corrective actions, orientations, and training.
- Assist with the development and implementation of emergency response plans and participate in drills to ensure site preparedness.
- Work collaboratively with project management and site supervision to promote a strong, proactive safety culture.
- Stay current with applicable legislation, industry standards, and HSE best practices and recommend improvements where appropriate.
- Perform other HSE-related duties as required.





Qualifications & Requirements

- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from a recognized post-secondary institution. A related degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may also be considered.
- 5+ years of relevant construction or industrial safety experience, preferably in an HSE advisory role.
- Robust working knowledge of the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and applicable federal requirements.
- Professional safety designations such as NCSO, NHSA, CRSP, CRST, CHSC, or GSC are considered a significant asset.
- Experience conducting inspections, incident investigations, root cause analyses, risk assessments, and corrective action follow-up.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively deliver orientations, safety meetings, and training to employees and supervisors.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Familiarity with construction management or HSE software used to track inspections, incidents, corrective actions, and training is an asset.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation required.
