Job Summary The Part Time Human Resources Generalist is responsible for coordinating and administering the Nation’s day-to-day Human Resources functions. This includes recruitment and hiring, employee relations, performance management and progressive discipline, onboarding and offboarding, employment agreements, timekeeping and attendance, leave administration, employee records, HR systems, and policy development. The HR Generalist will serve as a primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, Directors, and leadership, providing professional guidance, support, and recommendations on HR-related matters while ensuring processes are fair, consistent, confidential, properly documented, and aligned with Nation policies and applicable requirements.

Responsibilities

- Coordinate recruitment and hiring processes, including job postings, application screening, interviews, reference checks, hiring documentation, and onboarding.
- Coordinate employee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes.
- Provide HR guidance and support to employees, supervisors, Directors, and leadership.
- Coordinate employee relations, performance management, and progressive discipline processes.
- Support and coordinate workplace investigations and prepare appropriate HR documentation and recommendations.
- Coordinate termination and offboarding processes following appropriate authorization.
- Prepare and maintain employment agreements and track contract terms, renewals, expiry dates, extensions, and probationary periods.
- Administer employee timekeeping and attendance systems and monitor attendance, absences, overtime, and scheduled hours.




- Maintain accurate records of vacation, sick leave, time off in lieu (TOIL), statutory holidays, and other employee leave entitlements.
- Administer and maintain HR systems, employee records, personnel files, policy acknowledgements, and other confidential HR documentation.
- Assist with employee benefits and entitlement administration and coordinate required information with Finance/payroll and benefit providers.
- Support the development, review, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
- Promote consistent and fair application of HR policies and workplace expectations across Nation departments.
- Prepare HR reports and identify upcoming employment matters, HR concerns, policy gaps, or other items requiring management or Council attention.
- Support workplace health and safety administration and maintenance of required HR and training records.
- Support compliance with applicable employment requirements, Nation policies, employment agreements, and internal procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and professional boundaries, including disclosure of any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest.
- Perform other HR-related duties as required.

Experience




- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Previous experience in Human Resources, employee relations, administration, or a related role.
- Knowledge of employment standards, HR practices, employee relations, and progressive discipline.
- Experience with recruitment, HR documentation, employee records, and HR/timekeeping systems is an asset.
- Experience working within a First Nation organization or community environment is an asset.

In this role, you will support employees and leadership, assist with developing and applying workplace policies, and help strengthen consistent HR practices across the Nation. Pay: $38,220.00-$49,140.00 per year
