Community Options is seeking a part time, contract worker to support a 7 year old boy. Care is needed for 4 hour sessions on weekends, in his home or on outings.

This boy is a vibrant soul, who loves being active, being read/sung to, water, bubbles and playing with and building machines, marble runs, and hot wheels tracks. He enjoys being outdoors rain or shine and is full of energy.

He has minimal expressive language skills and has a diagnosis of ASD.

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a reliable, flexible, energetic person to use and expand their tools and strategies for working with children with neurodiverse abilities.

Related Skills and Experience

- CSW or Education Assistant or Behavioural Interventionist with experience working with individuals with ASD




- Understands ASD and trained in de-escalating demanding behaviours
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, kind, patient and fun
- Ability to work independently and follow existing routines
- Able to provide safe and caring support

Requirements

- At least 19 years of age
- Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
- Drivers Abstract
- Basic Emergency First Aid certification
- Work/character references
- Reliable vehicle required
- Medical clearance

Job Type: Contract/part-time This position would require shifts of 4 hours, once weekly, on a Saturday or Sunday as determined with the family.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4.0 – 6.0 per week

Experience

- autism support: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
- emergency first aid and CPRC (preferred)
