About the Role iHome Design & Renovation is seeking an experienced, organized, and hands-on Interior Designer / Project Coordinator to join our team.

This is a hybrid design + project coordination position. You will work closely with our lead designer and construction team throughout the full project lifecycle — from site measurement, design development, drawings and renderings to permit coordination, construction, client communication, site coordination, and project completion.

This is not a purely office-based design position. We are looking for someone who can design and produce drawings, but is equally comfortable visiting construction sites, communicating with clients and trades, coordinating work, solving site issues, and following up on project details.

Please note: Fluency in both English and Mandarin is a mandatory requirement for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct site visits and complete accurate field measurements, photos, and existing-condition documentation.

Assist the lead designer with residential, custom home, renovation, and commercial interior projects.

Prepare floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, millwork drawings, details, and construction drawings.

Produce 3D models, interior renderings, and presentation materials.

Assist with material, finish, lighting, plumbing fixture, millwork, and furniture selections.

Prepare and revise design and construction documentation based on client feedback and site conditions.

Assist with drawings and documentation required for building permit applications.

Coordinate information with engineers, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and trades.

Assist with responding to permit comments and updating drawings when required.





Attend construction sites regularly to review project progress and site conditions.

Review construction work against drawings and design intent.

Coordinate site activities and assist with scheduling subcontractors and trades.

Follow up with trades and suppliers regarding outstanding work, materials, deliveries, and deficiencies.

Identify site issues and coordinate solutions with the lead designer and project team.

Communicate directly with clients regarding design details, selections, construction progress, and outstanding decisions.

Attend client meetings and site meetings as required.

Prepare site visit reports, progress reports, meeting notes, deficiency lists, and project updates.

Track outstanding items and follow through until they are resolved.

Maintain organized project drawings, specifications, photos, reports, and other project documentation.

Assist with project close-out and final deficiency review.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field.

Approximately 2–5 years of relevant professional experience preferred.

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.

Experience with SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, Enscape, Lumion, or similar 3D/rendering software.

Ability to prepare and understand architectural and interior construction drawings.

Good understanding of interior construction, materials, millwork, finishes, and detailing.

Experience with residential renovations, custom homes, commercial interiors, or construction coordination is preferred.





Experience preparing or assisting with permit drawings and building permit applications is an asset.

Comfortable working on active construction sites and communicating directly with contractors and trades.

Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced workplace.

A valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a vehicle are preferred, as regular travel to project sites throughout the GTA is required.

Language Requirements

Fluent English is required, both written and verbal.

Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is required.

Candidates must be able to communicate professionally with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and trades.

Strong communication skills in both English and Mandarin are essential for this role.

You should enjoy both design and construction, be comfortable taking ownership of assigned tasks, and have the initiative to follow through on details without requiring constant supervision.

You will work closely with our lead designer and construction team while gradually taking greater responsibility for project coordination and delivery.

Pay: $19.67-$28.45 per hour
