This position is on site in Calgary. Remote work is not available.

About the Job

This is a contract position for 12 months.

We are seeking an experienced IT Administrator This is a hands-on role covering everything from Active Directory and server infrastructure to networking, licensing, and end-user support. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently across both Windows and Linux environments and can manage large-scale migration projects while keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Migration & Setup: The individual will take ownership of our IT infrastructure migration and set up.

- Take over and manage Windows Active Directory Services, transitioning from the parent company's domain infrastructure
- Lead and execute SharePoint migration to a current/independent environment
- Manage GitHub migration of repositories, permissions, and workflows
- Plan and execute Windows Server/VM migration, including ongoing maintenance and operations
- Plan and execute Linux Server/VM migration, including ongoing maintenance and operations
- Configure and manage NFS and CIFS/SMB file sharing services
- Administer storage systems (such as NetApp or EverPure), including configuration and system management




- Set up and manage Agile project tooling, including Confluence and Jira
- Deploy and manage SonarQube (or equivalent) for code quality and analysis
- Implement and manage anti-virus and malware protection across client endpoints
- Set up and deploy Windows licensing servers (e.g., KMS/Volume Licensing)
- Configure and deploy VPN and backup services
- Manage network switches and Wi-Fi infrastructure
- Set up and manage DHCP and DNS servers
- Migrate and manage email server/services
- Migrate user PCs to the new domain and licensing infrastructure
- Lead Office 365 Suite migration for all users
- Set up and manage a Windows Imaging Server for standardized PC deployment
- Support some small number of MacBook machines
- Ongoing Operations & Maintenance
- Perform regular server maintenance and upgrades
- Manage software licensing across the organization
- Administer and maintain switches and routers
- Maintain DNS and DHCP services
- Maintain and update the imaging server and associated deployment images
- Carry out periodic system maintenance and upkeep
- Provide computer maintenance, repair, and imaging support for end users on the company laptops whether Windows ro Linux, with a small number of MacBooks as well.
- Maintain and manage the server room environment (hardware, cabling, cooling, access)




- Procuring new laptops for new hires or for replacing old ones from long serving employees.
- Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience administering Windows Server and Active Directory environments
- Working knowledge of Linux server administration
- Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with NetApp, EverPure,or similar enterprise storage systems
- Experience with network infrastructure: switches, Wi-Fi, DHCP, DNS, VPN
- Experience migrating and managing Office 365 / Microsoft 365 environments
- Familiarity with SharePoint administration and migration
- Experience with GitHub administration
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Understanding of endpoint security (anti-virus/anti-malware management)
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, software, and network issues
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent migration projects
- Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, CompTIA Network+/Security+, Linux certifications)
- Prior experience leading an IT infrastructure separation or migration project (e.g., carve-out from a parent company)
