Overview The Kitchen Barista is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Service Technician to join our repair and service team in Toronto. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of premium residential and commercial espresso machines and coffee grinders.

Working alongside senior technicians, you will perform bench repairs in our workshop, assist with customer equipment diagnostics, and support field service calls across the Greater Toronto Area.

This position is ideal for someone with strong mechanical or electrical curiosity looking to build a career in electro-mechanical servicing.

Duties

Diagnostics & Repair: Assist in disassembling, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in espresso machines and coffee grinders. Replace worn components including seals, group gaskets, valves, heating elements, pumps, solenoids, and burrs. Perform routine preventative maintenance, descaling, backflushing, and pressure/temperature calibration.

Workshop & Operations: Maintain precise service records, log diagnostic steps, and track replacement parts used. Keep the workshop bench clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and components. Assist with unboxing, inspecting, and testing new or repaired equipment prior to customer pickup or delivery.

Customer Service: Communicate technical issues clearly to customers in plain, accessible language. Offer practical maintenance advice and usage tips to help customers prolong the life of their machinery.

Requirements

Technical Aptitude: Demonstrable mechanical and electrical aptitude—comfortable using basic hand tools,



digital multimeters, and reading technical diagrams or schematics.

Physical Capability: Ability to regularly lift, maneuver, and bench-test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Problem-Solving Skills: Logical approach to troubleshooting, patience with step-by-step diagnostic workflows, and a strong eagerness to learn.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with a professional and friendly customer-facing attitude.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G or G2) with access to a reliable vehicle or a clean driving record for GTA customer visits.

Background or interest in specialty coffee, espresso equipment, or barista operations.

Prior experience in small appliance repair, electro-mechanical assembly, plumbing, electronics, or HVAC servicing.

Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 45.0 per week
