Junior Fire Protection and Life Safety Consultant

Key Responsibilities

- Support building code and life safety reviews for a variety of building projects.
- Review architectural and design team drawings to assess compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Assist with technical analysis, code compliance strategies, and the preparation of reports and project deliverables.
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, and field reviews while working alongside experienced consultants and project leaders.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to support project delivery.
- Contribute to projects throughout planning, design, permitting, construction, and occupancy.
- Participate in technical training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to build expertise in fire protection and life safety consulting.

Education, Skills & Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related discipline; or
- Diploma in Applied Science Technology with eligibility for AScT designation.

Experience
- 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in consulting, engineering, building design, or construction.
- Co-op, internship, or related project experience is considered an asset.

Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Progress toward EIT or AScT designation is considered an asset.




- Exposure to fire protection, life safety, architecture, engineering, or construction projects
- Familiarity with the BC Building Code, National Building Code of Canada, or related standards is considered an asset.

As a Junior Fire Protection & Life Safety Consultant, you will work alongside experienced consultants and project leaders to support a variety of building projects across Canada. You will assist with building and fire code reviews, drawing reviews, technical analysis, and the preparation of reports and project deliverables. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to develop a strong foundation in fire protection engineering, life safety consulting, and code compliance.
