Amari Films is building a best-in-class wedding photography team.

We are not looking for someone who simply knows how to photograph a wedding. We are looking for a photographer with a distinctive, modern visual eye who can consistently produce work that feels editorial, emotional, polished, and current.

Our clients invest significantly in their wedding experience and expect an exceptional level of work. Our photography needs to reflect that.

This is a highly selective role. We would rather hire one outstanding photographer than five average ones.

If your portfolio looks like typical wedding photography, this probably isn't the right opportunity. If your work makes people stop scrolling, we want to see it.

About Amari Films

Amari Films is a luxury wedding film brand specializing in high-end South Asian and multicultural weddings. We are known for our calm presence, refined storytelling, and timeless visuals. We work with couples who care deeply about the experience and the quality of the final product.

As we expand our photography team, we're looking for a Lead Photographer who can independently own the photography side of a wedding while collaborating seamlessly with our video team.

The Role

You will photograph weddings and related events, working closely with our video team to deliver a seamless, luxury client experience. We are seeking a Lead Photographer

Responsibilities

- Lead photography coverage for weddings, pre-events, and portrait sessions
- Capture candid moments, editorial portraits, details, and atmosphere
- Direct couples and families confidently while keeping portraits natural and efficient
- Scout lighting, locations, and compositions throughout the day
- Develop simple shot plans and coordinate key moments with our Director
- Collaborate closely with our cinematographers to ensure photography and video coverage complement rather than compete with each other
- Adapt quickly to changing lighting, timelines, venues, and cultural events
- Maintain Amari's standards for framing, composition, exposure, color,



and storytelling
- Shoot to dual cards throughout the event
- Maintain excellent file-management and data-integrity practices
- Provide same-day selects for social media when requested
- Submit RAW files and a basic cull within 48 hours
- Represent Amari Films with a calm, polished, respectful, and professional presence

Requirements

- 2-4 years (no more than 4 years) of wedding photography experience or 10 full-day events shot
- A robust portfolio demonstrating candid storytelling and elegant portraiture
- Mastery of natural light and on-camera flash, plus comfort with simple off-camera setups
- Reliable full-frame mirrorless or DSLR body with dual card slots, fast primes, and 24-70mm or 70-200mm zooms
- On-camera flash, extra batteries, and sufficient memory cards
- Clean, reliable file management habits
- Weekend and evening availability; ability to stand and carry gear for long periods
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Legal authorization to work in Canada

Most importantly, your work must demonstrate a modern visual eye.

We want photography that feels current, elevated, and editorial, not formulaic or dated. You should be able to walk into a venue and immediately see opportunities for great photographs.

The Amari Standard

We're intentionally paying well above typical wedding photography rates because we are looking for photographers who operate at a different level.

The right person should already have a portfolio they are extremely proud of.

You should be someone who:

- Sees the shot before it happens.
- Knows how to make people look incredible without making them feel posed.
- Can create beautiful images in difficult lighting.
- Understands when to use flash and when not to.
- Can produce 100 great images, not just 10 great images.
- Can work independently without constant direction.
- Has a visual style that feels current and intentional.

We're not looking for someone to simply check boxes on a shot list.





We're looking for a photographer with taste.

Nice to Have

- Experience with South Asian weddings and multi-day event schedules
- Off-camera flash kits, stands, and modifiers
- Basic Lightroom culling and color; Photo Mechanic experience is a plus

Schedule & Travel

- Primarily Fridays to Sundays with some weekday events
- Hours vary month-to-month depending on bookings and seasonality
- Travel days are paid; mileage or crew transport is provided for out-of-city events
- Per diems provided for overnight travel

Compensation & Perks

$95–$110 CAD/hour based on role and experience

Compensation is based primarily on portfolio quality, experience, and demonstrated ability, not simply years in the industry.

- Drive time is paid for out-of-city jobs

2. Experience

- Number of full wedding days photographed

- Years shooting weddings
- Approximate number of weddings photographed in the last 12 months

3. Gear

Provide your complete primary and backup camera/lens/flash setup.
