Steamoji is a maker academy that complements and enriches children’s school studies by exposing them to new technologies in fabrication, physical computing, engineering and digital arts while teaching them Steamoji soft-skills, such as design thinking, a growth mindset and entrepreneurship. Role Description We are looking for a friendly and energetic facilitator to assist apprentices in their Steamoji missions, inspire confidence and enthusiasm in STEM subjects, and provide a safe and fun atmosphere for children to experiment and develop a growth mindset.

Are you experienced in working with children? Do you enjoy teaching and building problem solving skills in young engineering minds? Have you mentored youth? This could be the role for you.

Qualifications

- Ability to facilitate hands-on learning activities and explain concepts clearly to children and youth.




- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage learners, families, and team members effectively.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and classroom management skills in educational or youth-focused settings.
- Experience in or exposure to STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, arts, math), such as coding, robotics, maker projects, or design. Knowledge of Unity, kit robotics, TinkerCAD, Blender, Python, OnShape, Scratch, Vex would be a strong asset.
- Organizational skills for preparing materials, managing time during sessions, and following safety procedures.
- Ability to work on-site at our Richmond Hill, and Markham acadmies during after-school hours, evenings, and/or weekends as needed.
- Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or working with children or youth is an asset.
- Post-secondary coursework or training in education, child development, STEM/STEAM, or a related field is considered an advantage.

Currently, we have a young and dedicated team of 8 people. We have two operating locations in Richmond Hill and Markham, another in Richmond Hill North in the planning phase; there are growth opportunities to become a full time academy director, assistant manager, or lead facilitator for the next location! We do not require Canadian experience.
