Hours of Work

Schedule varies Monday to Friday from approximately 2:00PM to 5:45PM throughout the school year (September to June). Hours are based on registration and operational needs. Shifts may include occasional full days on Pro-D Days, Winter Break Camp, and Spring Break Camp. Opportunities to pick up shifts for sick or other last-minute coverage may also become available.

Position Overview

We're seeking adventurous individuals to create afterschool care fun for all our awesome kids! Join us and help deliver a variety of exciting recreation opportunities to the children of the Westshore. Our leaders put together daily and weekly recreational activities, focusing on providing children 5 to 12 years of age with the opportunity to cultivate friendships, experience a wide variety of sports, games, arts, crafts, special events and develop lifetime skills.

In addition to great wages, employees receive access to counselling, and a staff facility pass which provides drop-in use of the weightroom, fitness classes, skating,



the pool and our 9‑hole golf course.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

- Participates as a leader in the program; plans, implements, and evaluates working with a small team.
- Adaptable to new and changing programs and people.
- Ability to problem-solve and seek solutions.
- Communication and organizational skills required.
- Imaginative and adaptable personality required to ensure a fun environment for participants.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must enjoy working in an indoor and outdoor environment.

Qualifications

- As a licensed care program, candidates must be a minimum of 19 years of age.
- Minimum 180 hours previous experience leading school age children (aged 5-12 years).
- 20 hours of proof of workshops/training courses is required.
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C/AED certification is required.
- Skills, knowledge, and experience with specific areas such as physical literacy, arts, crafts and drama are required.
- Post‑secondary training in recreation, youth, childcare, or a related field is an asset.
- CLASS 4* unrestricted drivers’ license is an asset and candidates with a CLASS 4* will be given preference.

A clear and current criminal record check is a condition of employment (employer initiated) and is the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.

Benefits (Auxiliary)

14% in lieu of benefits coverage for Auxiliary employees. All employees are offered a complimentary pass to our facility for drop in use of the weightroom, pool, skating rink and some drop-in fitness classes. Limited use of the golf course is also included with the facility pass.
