Blue HDD Utilities & Excavating Inc. is seeking experienced and motivated Linemen to join our growing telecommunications construction team serving Burk's Falls and surrounding Northern Ontario communities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and construction of aerial and underground fibre optic telecommunications infrastructure. Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, and repair aerial and underground fibre optic telecommunications infrastructure.
- Install and tension strand in accordance with engineering and construction specifications.
- Perform fibre cable placement, lashing, and overlash operations on existing aerial infrastructure.
- Install messenger wire, anchors, guying systems, aerial hardware, and fibre support components.
- Climb poles and operate bucket trucks safely to complete construction activities.
- Perform pole transfers and relocation of existing aerial facilities.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, work orders, utility locates, and project specifications.
- Install fibre terminals, slack storage systems, enclosures, and related telecommunications infrastructure.
- Operate line trucks, mini excavators, trailers, and other company equipment as authorized.
- Complete daily vehicle inspections, hazard assessments, production reports, and required documentation.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in safe working condition.




- Accurately communicate project progress, deficiencies, and expected delays to supervisors.
- Participate in daily tailboard meetings, safety talks, and ongoing training programs.
- Work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
- Follow all company, client, OHSA, and applicable union safety requirements.
- Perform emergency restoration and after-hours work when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
- DZ Licence considered an asset.
- Experience in telecommunications, utility, fibre optic, or line construction preferred.
- Experience with strand placement, fibre overlashing, aerial fibre construction, pole transfers, and fibre placement techniques considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, work orders, and project specifications.
- Strong understanding of safe work practices and construction procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
- Solid communication and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory driver's abstract and criminal background check when required.

- Working at Heights
- Pole Climbing Certification
- Electrical Safety Awareness
- Bucket Rescue
- Pole Top Rescue
- Standard First Aid & CPR

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
- Ability to climb poles and ladders regularly.
- Comfortable working at heights exceeding 30 feet.
- Ability to work in confined spaces when required.
- Capable of performing physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.

Schedule

- Monday to Friday
- Overtime as required
- Weekend work as needed

Work Location Reporting to our Burk's Falls, ON yard, this is a field-based position supporting telecommunications infrastructure projects throughout Muskoka, Parry Sound, and surrounding areas. Current work is primarily located in the Burk's Falls area; however, project locations may change based on operational requirements and future construction work.
