HTM Law LLP is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Lawyer to join our busy Litigation team, with a specific focus on mortgage and condominium foreclosures, collections and general litigation.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for a junior-to-mid-level lawyer looking to take ownership of files, gain significant court experience, and advance their career within a supportive team structure. You will manage a diverse caseload involving civil disputes and legal enforcement proceedings for institutional and private clients.

Key Responsibilities

- File Management: Manage civil litigation files from inception to resolution, including mortgage foreclosures and condominium collections foreclosure actions.
- Advocacy: Appear regularly before the Alberta Court of King's Bench (including Applications Judges) and the Alberta Court of Justice.
- Drafting: Prepare high-quality pleadings, affidavits, applications, briefs, and legal opinions.
- Client Relations: Provide strategic advice to financial institutions, condominium corporations, and private lenders, ensuring prompt communication and updates.
- Negotiation: Conduct settlement negotiations, mediations,



and alternative dispute resolution processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: Graduate of a recognized Canadian law school (LL.B. or J.D.).
- Professional Standing: Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta (or eligible for immediate membership).
- Experience: 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in civil litigation, with practical knowledge of Alberta foreclosure procedures, the Land Titles Act , and the Condominium Property Act .
- Skills:
- Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
- Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with legal assistants and senior counsel.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage competing deadlines.
