Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario is looking for a Marketing & Communications Specialist to help tell our story, strengthen our brand, and connect people across the Heartland Region with our mission and impact.
Reporting to the Director of Community Impact & Engagement, this role is an important member of the Community Impact & Engagement Team and leads the day-to-day delivery of marketing and communications across Habitat Heartland and our ReStores.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating as much as coordinating. From designing campaigns and managing social media to updating our website, producing newsletters, capturing stories, and supporting ReStore promotions, you will help bring Habitat Heartland's mission to life across digital, print, and community channels.
Position Details
Location: London, Ontario with regional travel (Stratford, Woodstock, St. Thomas, Brantford)
Salary: Starting from $52,670 per year

As our Marketing & Communications Specialist, you will help people see, understand, and connect with that impact. Your work will strengthen how we tell our story, engage our communities, promote our ReStores, support fundraising and community initiatives, and create a consistent and recognizable Habitat Heartland presence across the region.
What success looks like (12-18 months)
- Build a consistent and engaging content presence across Habitat Heartland's social media, website, email, print, and community channels.
- Develop and maintain effective content calendars, campaign plans, and production schedules.
- Strengthen brand consistency across Habitat Heartland and our ReStores.
- Increase engagement with digital content and use analytics to identify opportunities for continued improvement.
- Strengthen the website's content, navigation, accessibility, and overall user experience.
- Develop compelling stories and content that demonstrate Habitat Heartland's community impact.
- Create practical templates, tools, and resources that empower ReStore teams to produce effective localized content.
- Deliver engaging newsletters, publications, campaigns, and an annual report that showcase our work and impact.
- Become a trusted marketing and communications resource for teams across Habitat Heartland.
What you’ll do Marketing, Campaigns & Brand
- Implement Habitat Heartland's marketing and communications priorities through coordinated digital, social, print, email, and community campaigns.
- Develop content calendars, campaign plans, and production schedules to keep communications timely, organized, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Serve as a day-to-day steward of the Habitat Heartland brand, ensuring communications align with Habitat for Humanity Canada brand standards.
- Design and create engaging marketing materials, including graphics, signage, advertisements, brochures, presentations, photography, video, and campaign collateral.
- Track campaign performance and use results and insights to strengthen future marketing activities.
Digital, Website & Social Media
- Manage Habitat Heartland's website and social media channels, keeping content accurate, accessible, current, and engaging.
- Create, schedule, and publish digital content that showcases Habitat Heartland's mission, programs, community impact, and opportunities to get involved.
- Apply SEO and digital marketing best practices and monitor website, social media, and campaign analytics.
- Support ReStore marketing through coordinated promotions, localized content, templates, tools, and training that maintain a consistent Habitat brand.
- Create content that demonstrates how shopping, donating, and volunteering at ReStore supports Habitat's mission and environmental impact.
Storytelling, Publications & Communications
- Identify and develop compelling stories, photographs, testimonials, statistics, and other content that bring Habitat Heartland's community impact to life.
- Coordinate, write, design, and distribute organizational newsletters, publications, website stories, announcements, media releases, and other communications.
- Lead the creative design and production of Habitat Heartland's Annual Report in collaboration with teams across the organization.
- Collaborate with Habitat for Humanity Canada to share local stories, participate in federation-wide initiatives, and adapt national campaigns for Heartland communities.
Fundraising, Community & Team Support
- Create marketing and communications materials that support fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, Team Days, events, donor recognition, and community engagement initiatives.
- Partner with the Fundraising & Community Partnerships Specialist, Volunteer & Homeowner Specialist, ReStore Operations, and other teams to gather content and promote organizational priorities.
- Serve as a hands-on marketing and communications resource across Habitat Heartland, helping teams turn ideas, programs, and impact into effective communications.
- Coordinate communications requests, timelines, approvals, and distribution to ensure content is accurate, consistent, and delivered on time.
About You: We're looking for someone who brings creativity, initiative, strong relationship skills, and a genuine interest in community impact.
- Education & Experience: Post-secondary education in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management, or a related field, combined with approximately 2–3+ years of relevant experience.
- Creative Communicator: You're a strong writer, editor, and storyteller who can translate ideas and impact into clear, engaging content for different audiences and channels.
- Design Skills: You're confident using Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Canva and have experience producing polished digital and print materials.
- Digital Marketing: You have experience managing organizational social media, email marketing, digital campaigns, and websites/content management systems. Experience with Wix or a similar platform is an asset.
- Digital Mindset: You understand SEO and analytics and are comfortable using data and insights to improve digital content and campaigns.
- Content Creator: You're comfortable creating written, graphic, photographic, and basic video content. Photography and video editing experience are considered assets.
- Organized & Accountable: You can manage multiple campaigns, requests, projects, and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Collaborative: You enjoy working across teams, gathering ideas and content from others, and helping colleagues communicate their work effectively.
- Coachability: You are comfortable receiving feedback and direction while taking ownership and accountability for your work.
- Technology: You're comfortable with Microsoft Office, social media and digital communications tools, and donor database/CRM systems. Experience with Raiser’s Edge is considered an asset.
- Additional Assets: Experience working in a nonprofit, community-based organization, or multi-location retail setting would be an advantage.
- Mobility & Flexibility: You have a valid driver's licence, are willing to travel throughout the Heartland service region, and can occasionally work evenings or weekends for events and community activities.
