We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Alberta on a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) basis with a 14-day rotation. The successful candidate will work alongside the Resident Engineer as a Project Manager, responsible for the design, implementation, and management of mechanical systems critical to mining operations. This role involves creating and reviewing detailed technical drawings for equipment and systems, ensuring they meet safety and technical requirements.

The Mechanical Engineering Project

Manager will oversee project timelines, budgets, and coordinate work with subcontractors and suppliers, contributing to the optimization and sustainability of mining installations. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to gain hands-on experience in the mining sector while developing leadership and project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

· Technical Drawing Development: Design and create detailed technical drawings for mechanical systems and equipment specific to mining projects, using CAD software.

· Review of Technical Drawings: Examine and validate technical drawings created by other team members to ensure accuracy, compliance with project specifications, and quality standards.

· Project Management:



Plan, execute, and oversee mechanical engineering projects, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, and technical requirements.

· Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems and equipment.

· Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor project progress and provide detailed status reports to stakeholders.

· Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks associated with mechanical projects and propose mitigation strategies to minimize impacts.

· Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety standards, quality regulations, and relevant industry guidelines.

· Supplier Oversight: Manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the quality of equipment and services provided.

· Testing and Validation: Organize and oversee testing of mechanical systems to ensure performance and safety requirements are met.

· Technical Documentation: Write and maintain up-to-date technical documentation, including user manuals, analysis reports, and project management documents.

Qualifications & Requirements:

- At least a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- P.Eng designation is preferable (or eligibility for registration with APEGA).
- 0-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the mining industry.




- Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools.
- Experience with mechanical system design, installation, and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of mechanical safety standards and risk assessment.
- Solid understanding of mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, and material science.
- Strong creativity and analytical skills.
- Can use the instruments and equipment assigned.
- Ability to carry out designated projects in accordance with contract requirements.
- Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
- Demonstrable deadline/time management and task management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Carries out duties to the best of their ability.
- With the nature of the job, you may be required to perform shift work and work as necessary to meet the needs of the team and targets.
- Willingness to travel to sites.
- Obeys all lawful and reasonable orders given and complies with organizational rules.
- Familiar with company safety regulations.
