Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Mechanical Takeoff Estimator to join our team in St. Catharines and drive the success of our construction projects. The ideal candidate brings a robust background in commercial or industrial mechanical and plumbing systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for accurately interpreting project plans and specifications to generate precise material quantities and cost estimates for mechanical systems. Your expertise will support project planning, budgeting, and bidding processes, ensuring competitive pricing and efficient project execution. Proficiency with digital takeoff software is highly valued, though candidates with strong manual takeoff skills are also encouraged to apply.

Duties

- Review architectural and mechanical drawings to identify scope of work for mechanical systems
- Utilize FastWRAP and FastEST software to perform detailed takeoffs, quantify materials, and develop accurate estimates
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to gather pricing information and refine estimates




- Conduct negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favourable terms
- Prepare comprehensive bid packages including material quantities, labour costs, and project timelines
- Assist in project management tasks by tracking changes, updating estimates, and maintaining detailed records
- Ensure all estimates align with project specifications, safety standards, and budget constraints

Qualifications

- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on mechanical systems
- Strong proficiency in FastWRAP and FastEST and other estimating or project management software
- Solid understanding of construction processes and technical knowledge of mechanical systems
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure optimal pricing from vendors
- Ability to interpret complex construction drawings and specifications accurately
- Effective communication skills for collaboration across teams and stakeholders
- Construction experience is highly preferred; relevant certifications are a plus
