In Canada, CNOOC International has oil sands assets in Long Lake, located in northern Alberta just south of Fort McMurray, which is a SAGD and partial Upgrader operation with production capacity of 85,000 barrels of bitumen a day. We also have interest in several other oil sands projects, including Hangingstone, operated by Greenfire Resources Operating Corporation and Syncrude’s oil sands mining upgrading facility. In addition to our oil sands business, we have shale gas land in Northeast British Columbia, a power station in Balzac, Alberta, and interest in a wind farm in southern Alberta.

Calgary is our regional corporate office for all North America.

Therefore, we are seeking a Mineral Land & Contract Analyst to join our growing team in Calgary, Alberta. This dynamic role will be instrumental in managing and optimizing the company's Canadian upstream oil and gas portfolio. This exciting prospect offers exposure to a diverse range of mineral, land, joint venture, and commercial agreements, requiring expertise in contract administration, mineral tenure, and land systems across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.

Your Background

- Post-secondary education in Land Administration, Petroleum Land Management, Business, Commerce, Law, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in land, mineral, contract, or commercial administration within the Canadian upstream oil and gas industry.
- Extensive experience interpreting and administering freehold and Crown mineral leases, royalty agreements, joint venture agreements, and other upstream oil and gas contracts.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian land tenure systems and regulations, particularly in Alberta and British Columbia.
- Proven experience supporting acquisitions, divestitures, due diligence activities, and asset portfolio management.
- Solid understanding of contract law principles, ownership structures, and industry agreements.
- Membership in the Land and Energy Management Association of Canada (LEMAC) is considered an asset.
- Experience with oil sands assets, surface land administration, and related regulatory processes is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with industry land and contract management systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication,



and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, build effective stakeholder relationships, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Your Role with Our Team

- Administer and maintain a diverse portfolio of mineral, Crown, freehold, royalty, joint venture, and other land and commercial agreements.
- Review and interpret complex contracts to identify obligations, rights, risks, opportunities, and key business impacts.
- Monitor contractual commitments, critical dates, rentals, royalties, notices, continuations, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance.
- Maintain accurate land and contract records within applicable systems and databases.
- Prepare, review, and process contract documentation, including notices, elections, assignments, transfers, amendments, consents, and related correspondence.
- Support land, joint venture, commercial, and business development activities through contract analysis, land analysis, due diligence, and strategic reviews.
- Coordinate land and contract administration activities related to acquisitions, divestitures, asset exchanges, and other corporate transactions.
- Identify and communicate contractual risks, compliance issues, and opportunities to preserve or enhance asset value.
- Conduct title, ownership, tenure, and contract reviews to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of land administration processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and subject matter expertise to team members and support special projects as required.
