Job Summary

Specs Boutique is looking for a compassionate and experienced Mobile Optician to join our growing senior eye-care team.

Unlike a traditional retail optical position, this role allows you to bring personalized eyewear services directly to residents of retirement and senior living communities. You will work with seniors in a relaxed environment, helping them select comfortable and appropriate eyewear, taking accurate measurements, and returning to dispense and properly fit their completed glasses.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with seniors. Patience, empathy, kindness and a caring personality are essential for this role. Some residents may require additional time, reassurance or assistance when selecting frames or communicating their needs.

Our team is passionate about making eye care more accessible and convenient for seniors while reducing the need for residents and their families to arrange unnecessary transportation to outside optical clinics.

This position may be especially attractive to an experienced optician looking for flexible or part-time work, including someone who is semi-retired but would like to continue using their professional skills while making a meaningful difference in seniors' lives.

Key Responsibilities

- Travel to retirement residences and other senior communities to provide mobile optical services.
- Assist residents with selecting frames appropriate for their prescription, comfort, facial fit, lifestyle and personal preferences.
- Provide patient and compassionate assistance to seniors who may require additional time or support.
- Take accurate optical measurements, including PDs,



segment heights and other measurements required for proper lens fitting.
- Review prescriptions and recommend appropriate lens and frame options based on individual needs.
- Accurately document frame selections, measurements and order information.
- Work closely with our optometrists, office team, laboratories, Retirement Home staff and residents' family members when required.
- Return to facilities to dispense completed eyewear.
- Perform proper frame fitting and adjustments to ensure residents are comfortable and their glasses fit correctly.
- Provide follow-up adjustments and minor repairs when required.
- Maintain professional, respectful and friendly relationships with residents, families and Retirement Home staff.
- Represent Specs Boutique professionally at every facility.

Qualifications

- Licensed Optician in good standing in Ontario.
- Previous optical dispensing and frame-fitting experience.
- Strong knowledge of lenses, frames, prescriptions and optical measurements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with seniors and individuals who may have mobility, hearing, communication or cognitive challenges.
- Patient, compassionate and service-oriented personality.
- Ability to work independently while also being part of a mobile healthcare team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.




- Comfortable travelling to different facilities throughout the GTA and surrounding areas.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
- Reliable transportation required.
