About the Role The Office Manager / Bookkeeper serves as the main point of contact for the company, ensuring seamless functionality across administrative, financial, and HR processes. This role is responsible for full cycle bookkeeping and financial reporting while also overseeing the complete payroll and human resources functions, maintaining an organized, professional office environment.

- Assist in preparing and issuing monthly progress billing for ongoing construction projects, tracking job costs and billed-to-date amounts
- Reconcile bank accounts and company credit cards monthly, resolving discrepancies and verifying receipts
- Maintain general ledger accounts and assist in preparing monthly financial statements, supporting month-end/year-end close and the year-end review engagement
- Assist in preparing and filing GST/PST returns and other government remittances

- Assist in maintaining fixed asset and depreciation schedules, and support accounting across affiliated companies within the corporate group, including intercompany transactions

- Ensure new hire documentation (contracts, tax forms, emergency contacts, banking information, policy acknowledgement, training) is completed, filed accurately, and entered in the payroll system
- Enter and process payroll, ensuring accurate calculation and submission of compensation, deductions, and government remittances, including WCB assessments
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits programs, handling enrolment, changes, and employee questions

Office Administration & Reception

- Manage the main office reception area, including answering and directing phone calls, greeting customers, sorting mail, stocking office supplies, and maintaining an organized, professional office environment

Qualifications & Skills

- 2+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping or accounting experience, including journal entries, AP/AR, bank and credit card reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, accrual-basis accounting, and month-end/year-end close

- Construction accounting background (job costing, progress billing) and/or payroll/HR administration experience considered a strong asset
- Proficiency with accounting and payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks); advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) considered an asset
