Group Childcare Centre in Pitt Meadows is looking to add a One on One Support worker to our team in the Before & After School Care Program starting immediately.

This is an afternoon Monday to Friday position (approximately 15-17 hours per week) with more full time hours on school closures, professional days, spring break and summer, working with children with diverse needs. This position will typically be scheduled for an afternoon shift starting at 2:00pm – 5:00pm Monday to Friday on regular school days and typically 6-7 hours between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm on school closure days.

We are looking for a team member that is dynamic, fun, versatile, hardworking with a sense of humour, common sense and an abundance of patience. You will have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and demonstrate excellent judgement in various situations. The ability to think on your feet, improvise and guide behaviours in a positive manner are imperative in this role.

Your communication skills are exceptional as you not only will be working with children and communicating with parents about progress, but interacting with various community stakeholders regarding child(s) development, successes, & challenges.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- To provide one-to-one support service to children with diverse social/developmental needs in accordance with the expectations as outlined in the support plans and in a positive encouraging manner.




- Work collaboratively with School Age program team members and provide support to the program where required.
- Liaise with community stakeholders in a professional & respectful manner.
- Ability to provide feedback, evaluation and recommendations regarding program and children’s development/progress.
- Respond to the individual needs of children and establish clear, consistent expectations.
- Attend support meetings if required.
- Participate in all program activities.

Requirements:
- Minimum 1-3 years working in a child care setting or equivalent experience working with children
- Experience working with children with varying abilities &/or special needs
- Exceptional Communication skills
- Demonstrate excellent judgement
- Knowledge of Child Development
- Valid first aid certificate
- Valid Criminal record check

This position is currently a term of 9 mths , with the likelihood of a longer contract extension (tbd). We thank everyone for their interest however only short listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour
