Ophthalmic Assistant

This is an exciting position at a centrally located eye clinic and surgery center in Edmonton. The role mainly involves performing preliminary diagnostic workups and assisting the physicians.

The position would include

-Perform accurate patient workups, including visual acuity testing, auto-refraction, tonometry, etc.

-Administer diagnostic imaging and tests (e.g., OCT, visual fields, corneal topography) as required.

-Accurately record patient medical history, current medications, and test measurements in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

-Assist with minor in-office procedures, patient education, and post-operative instructions.

-Booking follow up appointments and other administrative or clinical duties The position would be Monday-Friday with no evening or weekend hours. There would be occasional (1-3 times per month) requirement of starting early at 7am.

Potential candidates must be detail oriented,



possess good communication skills and have the ability to multitask.

Completion of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program (COA certification is an asset) or equivalent practical clinic experience.

Previous experience in an ophthalmic or optometry clinic is required.
