PAINTLINE OPERATOR- NO WEEKENDS

Hours: Rotation every 2 weeks

Days: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm (40hrs/week)

Afternoons: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm - 1:00am (40hrs/week)

Starting Wage: $25.29 (Increases to $26.69 at 6 months of employment and 28.10 at 1year)

Summary:

North American Steel (located in Whitby, Ontario), is seeking a candidate to fill the vacant position of Paint Line Material Handler

We are a leading manufacturer of pallet racking systems, and we are looking for people who want to join our successful team.

In this role, you will work with your team members to load/unload, bundle and strap finished product. You will also be responsible for moving/gathering materials for the paintline using a forklift. This position is essential to our business as it is the final step in the manufacturing process before the product is shipped to our customer.

The ideal candidate must be physically capable of standing, bending, twisting for multiple hours and able to lift at least 50lbs. You must be competent to operate a forklift and possess prior forklift experience.

Special qualifications / certification:

Forklift Certification (current or prior)

Forklift Experience (at least 2yrs) -previous experience moving industrial racking is an asset

Good product knowledge

Knowledge of standard packaging & strapping procedures

WHMIS training

Duties:

Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)

Perform pre-shift inspection on lift truck and document in Sitedocs.





Maintain an uninterrupted flow of production to Paint line

Stock wood, cardboard and other supplies as required

Strapping end frames if required to keep racks empty for end frame welders

Empty scrap steel into steel scrap bins

Empty wood bin into outside wood bin

General housekeeping, all materials placed in designated areas

Assist operators loading material for production

Pre stage next orders

Notify Supervisor of a burnt or damaged product immediately

Organize warehouse / painted material

Load & Unload burn off oven (Day & Night shift)

Continuously optimize warehouse space

Work with shipping Dept. to prioritize order staging

Training

Other tasks as assigned by the company

Attend all continuing education and required job related training provided by the company
