About us The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board is seeking to fill the position of Deputy Chief of Paramedic Services. This position works primarily from the DSB offices in Espanola, Ontario.

The Paramedic Services system currently provides emergency services at both Primary Care Paramedic and Advanced Care Paramedic scope of practice, responding to approximately 14,000 calls per year. Additionally, Paramedic Services delivers a Community Paramedicine Program. Paramedic Services deploys from 12 stations, with a fleet of 36 vehicles to residents in urban, rural and remote environments.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Paramedic Services & participating as an integral member of the management team, the successful candidate(s) will ensure that human resources, fleet, equipment and infrastructure needs are in place to meet Emergency Services and Regulatory requirements. Additionally, the incumbent with help ensure that Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB’s Strategic Plan and Tactical delivery meets organizational goals.

Responsibilities generally include, but are not limited to:

- Managing organizational and tactical operations,

- Assisting with Program design,

- Program component delivery,

- System & process compliance to Regulation and Policy

- Standard Operating Procedure Development and implementation

- Recommendation to the Chief of Paramedic Services and team members for service evolution

- Direction & support for Emergency First Response Teams and allied agencies.

- Provision of Quality Assurance processes

- Investigative oversight

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:





- Post-secondary Degree in a relevant program from an accredited university

- Provincial certification of an Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant.

- Minimum of five (5) years of management experience.

- Experience with design and delivery of education programs

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, decision making, communication skills

- Strong presentation/instruction skills

- Leadership/supervisory abilities.

- Strong computer literacy in a Microsoft workplace

- Able to independently develop and issue correspondences and reports.

- Must possess all qualifications as specified in Regulation 257 of the Ontario Ambulance Act

- The incumbent will possess or immediately be able to obtain a valid MTO Drivers License permitting operation of all Paramedic Services fleet

- Possess personal vehicle insurance for employment related use

- Ability and willingness to travel extensively.

- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector assessment.

- Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.

Location: Espanola

Salary Range (2026): $118,277 to $147,846 per annum. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
