Part-Time CAD Drafter / Sheet Metal Detailer

$30–$36 per hour | 16–24 hours per week | Hybrid

KM Sheet Metal is looking for a practical, detail-oriented CAD drafter to prepare shop and production drawings for custom stainless-steel and sheet-metal fabrication.

We manufacture commercial kitchen equipment, welded sinks and countertops, tables, shelving, exhaust hoods, wall panels and other custom metal products.

This is a part-time employee position. The successful candidate will initially spend time in our Winnipeg shop learning our fabrication methods and standard assemblies. Once familiar with our products, routine drafting work may be completed remotely.

Responsibilities

- Turn sketches, measurements and concepts into accurate production drawings
- Prepare plans, elevations, sections and fabrication details
- Create bend, welding and assembly details
- Prepare bills of materials and cut lists
- Revise drawings based on site measurements and customer changes
- Maintain organized drawing files and standard templates
- Work directly with the owner, foreman and fabricators
- Help improve and standardize our drawing library

Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD
- Experience producing fabrication, manufacturing or shop drawings
- Good understanding of dimensions,



tolerances and assemblies
- Able to visualize how parts will be formed, welded and installed
- Strong and fluent spoken and written English is required
- Must be able to clearly understand shop instructions and communicate technical information with customers, management and fabricators
- Organized and comfortable working independently
- Sheet-metal, stainless-steel or metal-fabrication experience is an asset
- AutoCAD LT or BricsCAD experience is an asset

Formal drafting education is welcome but not mandatory. We will consider experienced fabricators who have developed robust CAD skills, as well as junior drafters who demonstrate good mechanical understanding and a willingness to learn. Applicants may be asked to complete a short, paid drafting exercise using a typical KM Sheet Metal project.
