The Kingston Family Health Team (KFHT) is a multidisciplinary primary health care team providing services to approximately 30,000 patients in Kingston and the surrounding area.

The KFHT is currently recruiting for the following temporary part-time contract position.

Physician Assistant (PA)

The KFHT uses a patient-centered approach to primary care that brings together physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, mental health clinicians, registered dietitians and pharmacists to coordinate the highest possible quality of care for patients.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The PA will work within his/her full scope of practice and in accordance with the orders and conditions identified in the PA Medical Directives. The PA will work under the direct supervision of the primary registered physician.

Major Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:

- Providing primary health care to enrolled patients within the scope of his/her practice under the direct supervision of a registered physician.
- Minor surgical procedures
- discomfort, low back pain, shingles,



lower respiratory tract infections, vomiting or diarrhea/gastrointestinal infections, urinary tract infection symptoms, wound care, asthma, dermatitis, hypertension, gastritis).
- History and physical exam, immunizations, ordering and reviewing laboratory and health screening test results, health promotion and prevention, health counselling, diagnosis and treating illnesses and follow-up under the direct supervision of the registered physician.
- Prescribing drugs in accordance with the applicable medical directives
- Recording and documenting patient data in the electronic medical record and maintaining privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience (preferred)
- Experience in a primary care setting (preferred)
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Education Program (Required)
- Registered with CAPA (Required)

Skills and Abilities

- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft office and Electronic Medical Records
- Critical thinking, organizational and communication skills are required
- Adept at developing and maintaining excellent working relationships in a team-oriented interdisciplinary environment
- Self-motivated
