SMT Research Ltd, creates solution sets that are used for electronic leak detection and building envelope monitoring. We utilize near real-time sensor analysis and remote data collection to allow Engineers, Architects, Building Owners and Researchers to validate designs, materials, and methods, producing more efficient and durable buildings. We assist in shrinking environmental impacts by reducing the frequency of unnecessary roof repairs, by providing quality assurance throughout the construction and restoration process.

As the Post-Construction Engineering Assistant, you will be the vital link between our active field construction projects and our long-term client monitoring partnerships. When a building finishes construction, our job is just getting started.

You will work directly with our Field Project Managers to take over the technical onboarding of completed projects. This includes programming our SMT Building Analytics platform, updating AutoCAD drawings, coordinating in office power and data hookups, and ensuring our clients receive high-quality performance reports. This is a perfect role for a junior engineer or technician passionate about building science, data analytics, and hands-on problem-solving.

- Position Type: Full-time, Entry to Junior-Level, could be great start for recent graduates
- Location: Office-based (with occasional site coordination)
- Compensation: $52-$60K per year

Responsibilities: Technical Onboarding & Platform Programming• Upload and organize project assets, including structural drawings, sensor layouts, photographs, and initial monitoring data.

- Utilize AutoCAD to update and finalize "as-built" drawings showing exact sensor locations and hardware layouts.
- Generate clear, accurate initial building performance reports to be delivered to clients.

Systems Deployment & Site Coordination• Actively track and follow up on pending field items required to get monitoring systems live (e.g., ensuring power and data/internet are active on site).
- Coordinate logistics,



schedule service calls, and dispatch technicians to troubleshoot or finalize hardware installations.
- Serve as the internal bridge to transition the project smoothly from the installing to the long-term support phase.

Contract & Client Support• Expedite the delivery of long-term service and monitoring contracts into the hands of clients as construction wraps up.
- Assist in monitoring system health alerts to ensure data continuity for active clients.

Qualifications:

- Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Engineering Technology, Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Building Science, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Comfortable learning proprietary software and data analytics platforms
- Strong computer skills (Excel-advanced).
- General knowledge of technical standards and process in completing building condition assessments
- General knowledge of building science including base knowledge of all areas of study - architectural building envelope, mechanical and electrical building systems or site components.
- Highly organized, self motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface confidently with field crews, subcontractors, and project leadership.
- Excellent customer service skills
- A results-oriented approach and attention to details
- Own vehicle and valid drivers’ license will be an asset
