Job Overview

Join our dynamic culinary team as a Prep Cook and be the backbone of our kitchen operations! In this energetic role, you will prepare ingredients, assist in food assembly, and ensure that every dish meets our high standards of quality and safety. Your enthusiasm for food preparation and commitment to excellent food service will help create a memorable dining experience for our guests.

This position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, vibrant restaurant environment while contributing to a team that values passion, precision, and professionalism.

Primary lead for the food program and day-to-day café operation.

We are seeking a hands-on Prep Cook to launch and maintain a focused breakfast and lunch program in a dog-friendly café. This is not a large restaurant-brigade role: the successful candidate will combine strong culinary execution with practical leadership, cost control, organization and the ability to keep a small café operation running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

- Take ownership of the café's food program, kitchen standards and daily service execution.
- Prepare and consistently execute the established breakfast and lunch menu, including paninis, sandwiches/bagels and grab-and-go items.
- Oversee the preparation of a small range of dog-friendly cookies/treats using approved recipes, ingredients and food-safety procedures.
- Establish recipes, portions, prep lists and production systems that support consistency and efficient service.
- Manage food ordering, receiving, inventory, stock rotation and supplier relationships.
- Monitor food cost, portion control,

waste and overall kitchen profitability.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, kitchen organization and cleanliness.
- Lead, train and schedule kitchen/café team members as required.
- Work in tandem with the Café Manager to coordinate front- and back-of-house service.
- Take overall operational leadership during service, resolving issues and maintaining standards across the café.
- Support seasonal specials and thoughtful menu development without overcomplicating the core offering.
- Train the Café Manager on recipes, prep and service systems so the established menu can be covered during scheduled days off or absence.

Experience & Attributes

- Professional culinary experience in a café, restaurant, bakery or comparable food-service setting.
- Previous supervisory, kitchen-lead or management experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of food costing, ordering, inventory and waste control.
- Organized, hands-on and comfortable working within a small team.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with a collaborative management style.
- Food-safety certification/knowledge appropriate to the operation.
- Comfortable working in a dog-friendly environment.
- Baking experience is an asset; specific dog-treat experience is not required.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
