Tootsie Roll of Canada/Concord Confections, the manufacturer of Dubble Bubble gum and other fine candy products, has an opening for a Production Manager, in Concord Ontario.

The Production

Manager is responsible for the management of the site in order to meet production schedules, productivity, labour utilization, cost, material usage, quality, food safety, health and safety, environmental and other requirements and objectives.

Manager will coach and manage a team of production supervisors and others in the department, and collaborate cross-functionally.

RESPONSIBILITIES, but are not limited to:

· Planning, directing, & coordinating operations in compliance with company, customer, SQF, CFIA, FDA, Kosher, federal, provincial, local and other requirements.

- Support SQF requirements by maintaining food safety plan and food quality. Report food safety concerns and problems to personnel with authority to initiate action and Food Defense issues to the Food Safety and Quality Department. Create a Food safety culture that enables enhanced levels of Food Safety at all times.
- Ensure all employees understand and follow safety procedures, GMP, housekeeping procedures and expectations, union CBA, SOPs, and other programs and requirements of the company.
- Maximize the efficiency of production lines and ensure the effective utilization of materials, staff and other resources across all shifts. Manage and supervise production lines, personnel and facility issues.
- Write SOPs and Work Instructions, and provides appropriate training and cross-training.
- Monitor, exceed and maintain production standards for efficiencies, material waste and quality targets. Actively participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Be self-motivated and work in other shifts when needed to address issues, provide training, investigate, supervise, manage projects and operational tasks, and support other department and company needs.
- Monitor, report and improve start up, changeovers, shutdown, run efficiency, material usage,



downtime, use of supplies, staff utilization, and other costs of production.
- Coordinate and optimize production schedule, staffing and material requirements.
- Audit processes, identify gaps and ensure compliance to requirements across all shifts.
- Develop and maintain production capacity information, line speeds and outputs, efficiencies, line set points and other requirements of the line.
- Monitor and manage equipment and site cleaning procedures and effectiveness.
- Maintain employee safety and morale by creating a safe and efficient working environment. Take initiatives to continuously improve health and safety at the site, and lead investigations and root cause analysis.
- Play a key role in projects, R&D; activities, capacity analysis, equipment and other operational analysis and improvements, and presentation of data and action plans.
- Collaborate with other departments to find solutions, brainstorm new ideas and continuously improve manufacturing operations. Investigate new processes, protocols, equipment, layouts and resource utilization.
- Engage team for improved performance, maintain valuable employee relations including timely follow up, appreciation, feedback and communication.
- Lead the department and support department and site needs across all shifts, and also on weekends when needed. Be able to work evenings and weekends, as and when needed.
- Prepare Management Reviews for all direct reports. Develop and implement personal development plans to foster growth of Production Supervisors. Monitor performance and take actions accordingly.




- Be trained and able to cover Production Supervisor role as and when needed on any day or shift. Be trained in other tasks, as a back-up. Ensure adequate training and cross-training of Supervisors, Lead hands and other staff. Mentor and train team members for growth.
- Manage fluctuations in production demands and labor, effectively and efficiently.
- Timely communication, reporting and action on projects, tasks, issues and gaps.
- Be trained at both Concord Vaughan sites and work at these sites, as and when required. Able to commute to and between both sites, as and when required.
- Lead and/or support projects and tasks within and outside department.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION · Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required, in Engineering, Operations Management or related field.

· 5+ years of Management experience in manufacturing, preferably in Food or Beverage manufacturing environment. Production Manager experience is preferred.

· Skilled in unionized workplace dynamics.

· Extensive experience in Production, Material & Labor Scheduling, Cost Management, Continuous Improvement and Inventory Management.

· Strong planning, analytical and troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office. Strong skills in Microsoft excel including Vlookup & pivot tables. Experience in data analysis and data presentation.

· Ability to lift and move product & materials upto 25 lbs. Ability to stand and/or work on feet for extended periods. Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment. Frequently handling/gripping/bending/stooping.

· Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to lead and drive change, direct and motivate a diverse workforce. Experience in leading and coaching teams.

Pay: $110,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
