As the business continues to expand, they are building out their core team and looking for detail-oriented professionals to support day-to-day operations.

POSITION SUMMARY The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management of Calgary plant operations, including Production, Warehouse, Quality Control, Health & Safety, and Equipment Maintenance. This role ensures protected, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations while supporting the successful startup and growth of the facility.

The Plant Manager provides leadership to plant personnel, drives operational performance, ensures food safety and regulatory compliance, and works closely with cross-functional teams to achieve production and business objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Daily Production Management

· Manage daily production activities to ensure production schedules and customer requirements are met. · Plan and allocate labour, equipment, materials, and production resources according to operational priorities.

· Monitor production progress throughout the shift and make adjustments as necessary.

· Identify and resolve production issues that may affect output, quality, schedule, or cost.

· Ensure production areas are properly staffed and organized.

· Coordinate with Planning, Warehouse, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to maintain smooth operations.

· Ensure appropriate shift handovers and communication between teams.

1. People Leadership & Workforce Management

· Lead, coach, train, and develop production employees and supervisors. · Establish clear expectations regarding safety, attendance, productivity, quality, food safety, and workplace conduct.

· Monitor employee performance and provide timely feedback and coaching.

· Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of production employees.

· Manage attendance, scheduling, overtime, vacation coverage, and staffing requirements.

· Build a positive, respectful, accountable, and team-oriented production culture.

· Address employee issues promptly and fairly in cooperation with HR.

1. Safety & Food Safety

· Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure employees follow all workplace safety procedures.



· Ensure production activities comply with company food safety policies, GMPs, sanitation requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.

· Ensure employees follow proper allergen control, personal hygiene, chemical handling, and contamination prevention procedures.

· Participate in safety and food safety investigations and corrective actions.

· Report and address unsafe conditions immediately.

· Work closely with Quality/Food Safety to maintain audit readiness.

1. Quality Management

· Ensure production processes consistently meet established product specifications and quality standards. · Monitor production quality and identify recurring quality issues.

· Work with Quality/Food Safety to investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.

· Ensure production employees understand and follow SOPs and work instructions.

· Reduce rework, scrap, waste, and product defects.

1. Productivity & Performance Management

· Monitor key production performance indicators, including: Ø Production output

Ø Yield

Ø Scrap and waste

Ø Downtime

Ø Overtime

Ø Production efficiency

Ø Schedule attainment

· Establish and communicate daily production targets.

· Analyze production performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

· Implement practical solutions to improve productivity and reduce operating costs.

1. Equipment & Maintenance Management

· Manage Facility/Maintenance personnel to minimize production downtime. · Report equipment problems promptly and prioritize maintenance needs based on production impact and safety.

· ensure preventive maintenance activities and ensure production equipment is available and properly maintained.

· Participate in root-cause analysis of recurring equipment-related production problems.

· Ensure production employees operate equipment safely and according to established procedures.

1. Inventory & Materials

· Coordinate with Warehouse and Purchasing to ensure required raw materials, packaging, and supplies are available for production. · Monitor material usage and minimize waste.





· Identify material shortages or supply issues that may affect production.

· Ensure proper handling and storage of materials within production areas.

1. Documentation & Reporting

· Ensure production records, batch records, production reports, and other required documentation are completed accurately and on time. · Review daily production results and communicate key issues to management.

· Maintain accurate records related to production performance, labour, downtime, waste, and quality.

· Prepare regular production reports and performance summaries.

1. Continuous Improvement

· Identify opportunities to improve production processes, workflow, labour utilization, and equipment efficiency. · Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.

· Promote standardized work and process discipline.

· Support implementation of lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement initiatives.

· Participate in new product introductions, process changes, and equipment installation projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Operations Management, Engineering, Food Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· 5+ years of progressive production/manufacturing experience, with demonstrated supervisory or management responsibility.

· Experience managing employees in a manufacturing or food processing environment.

· Strong understanding of production processes, workflow, labour utilization, and manufacturing operations.

· Demonstrated experience managing production schedules and meeting production targets.

· Strong people leadership, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.

· Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.

· Strong understanding of GMPs and food safety principles.

· Ability to work effectively with Quality/Food Safety, Maintenance, Warehouse, HR, and other departments.

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and production-related reporting systems.

LOCATION:

Cross Iron Dr, Calgary. Public transit is limited in the area, and you may need your own vehicle for daily commuting.

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
