Production Team Member - Experience with Lumber Grading

Position Overview

Canadian Bavarian Millwork & Lumber Ltd. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Lumber Grader to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, grading, sorting, and handling lumber products while ensuring quality standards, production requirements, and safety expectations are met.

This is an excellent prospect for an individual with previous lumber grading experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

- Inspect and grade lumber according to company and customer specifications.
- Identify defects, species, grades, and product characteristics.
- Sort and stage material for further processing and shipment.
- Maintain accurate production and inventory records as required.
- Communicate quality concerns and production issues to Leads
- Assist with material handling and general production duties.
- Operate equipment safely and follow all company safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and team objectives.

Qualifications

Required:

- Previous lumber grading experience.
- Ability to identify wood species, grades, defects, and quality characteristics.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.




- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials as required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Assets:

- Certified lumber grader designation.
- Experience in secondary processing, re-manufacturing, or value-added wood products.
- Forklift certification and operating experience.
- Experience operating saws, planers, moulders, or other wood-processing equipment.
- Knowledge of kiln-dried lumber and moisture requirements.

Canadian Bavarian Millwork + Lumber is a "Living Wage BC" certified employer. Starting at $23/hour - rising to $25/hour after a 3-month probation; however , hourly wage will depend on candidate's experience. We are an equal opportunity employer.
