Overview

It will be your job to quote, schedule, crew, solve and close without much oversight.

There will be high volume and many short jobs. During busy season, you may have forty projects with cycle times ranging from 1-12 weeks spanning $1000 to $150,000 in value. Plans will change daily, and you will be comfortable rolling with it. You will be the person who knows the status of each project, large or small and who keeps crews, suppliers, and clients coordinated.

Aurora Flags and Banners installs signage and flagpoles across Alberta, and we are growing organically and through acquisitions that will bring more work and bigger projects. We need a project manager who can run with projects.

Why You Would Want This Job

- Authority. You will make the call on projects up to $150,000. Contractor selection, sequencing, materials, site problems. You will not wait on multiple approvals.
- Finishing things. Most projects span a day or two, so you close several every week and you can drive past your own work. These aren’t long projects with months of meetings first.
- Variety. In one day you might price a job, schedule a site visit with the client, sort out a locate with the city, and dispatch crews. It won’t be boring.
- Paid properly. $85,000 to $95,000, an annual bonus of up to twenty percent that will pay out when warranted, and a $500 monthly vehicle allowance.

What You Will Do Run projects from start to finish

- Own scope, schedule, materials, labour, documentation, and closeout from quote to final invoice
- Make day-to-day decisions on contractors, sequencing, materials, and site problems
- Escalate the exceptions: scope disputes, safety, significant erosion in margins

Price the work

- Quote jobs using established pricing, with site conditions, access, and scope properly reflected
- Catch and price change orders
- Estimating is about twenty percent of the role, and we will teach you our process

Manage the schedule

- Build and hold the install schedule across all active projects
- Book and confirm crews, subcontractors, equipment, and deliveries




- Arrange locates, permits, site access, and traffic accommodation
- Respond quickly when a client, site, supplier, or the weather forces a change

Deal with people

- Inside sales, fabrication, installation crews, and subcontractors
- Municipalities, engineering firms, other contractors on site, property managers, and suppliers
- Clients, who should hear about a problem from you, with a solution attached
- Crews, who should have with a complete job package

Keep it organized

- Track status across Outlook, QuickBooks, Salesforce, and project trackers
- Build something workable in Excel when the existing tools do not fit, and write it down so it is not only in your head

You Will Fit If

- You have carried a high volume of short-duration projects at the same time, preferably in construction or something close to it. Restoration, service divisions, signage, landscaping, and civil work all translate well
- You can price work
- You can speak with a city inspector, an engineer, a general contractor, and a crew lead, and adjust your communication style appropriately
- You know what your three most important tasks are and you do those first
- You are very valuable in Excel
- You stay steady when the schedule changes
- A PMP or CAPM is a nice-to-have. Experience with similar work matters more.

Compensation

- $85,000 to $95,000 per year, depending on experience
- Annual bonus of up to twenty percent of salary
- $500 per month vehicle allowance
- Office-based in the Greater Edmonton Area, with regular site and field contact
- Full-time, permanent
